turn off valve at bottom of tank

Like alot of other people we have no mains water and so no hot water or cold water from the taps. I turned off the valve at the bottom of the immersion tank coming from the boiler so as to not have the water from the boiler going into the tank cause there is no way of removing the hot water in the tank.Is it ok to do this,…
