The problem with the potential snow in the south midlands etc is that the uppers do rise abit, while across the North Mids they stay at good enough levels.

paddybar; is all OK at home? I have to admit that my first thought was.. "FIREWOOD!"

    :D
Everything is fine ,thank you Grace.Unfortunatly all the firewood belongs to the farmer whose land the tree fell from. They are cutting it up as we speak , so the road should be clear when/if I get home.

Here is an update onWC's charts below. This is the GFS for 6pm. East and North East should see snow. Uppers and air temps are very favourable

Here is snow accumulation graph for 6am tomorrow. A pasting for N+E midlands, east and north. This chart should not be taken as a widespread snow event necessarily but it is a good indication

Proper 'wet' snow now, driving along in a near gale wind. Still not settling. If it starts too, we could be looking at a serious fall here with drifts. Its a big 'if' though given our 'snow' luck this year so far....

If the hi res models prove correct, temps over the central portion of the country (roughly S Ulster, North/Central Connacht and much of Leinster) should start to see a small drop in temp from about now, but more likely from around 3pm, onwards. Typical readings should be somewhere between 0c to 3c.

    Snow/sleet getting lighter here.

http://www.yr.no/satellitt/1.5941760 shows that the front up well.

My guess is that the front is going to become very slowing from here on in. As the low roatates and winds turn to a more SE direction you will see a lot of precip on the SE tail of the low as it more or less streams over the country. The low initially did track NE but has swung NW now. Precipitation will continue to fall for some hours to come. It may very well clear the extreme south west this afternoon though.
