I thought you might be getting this snaps, as you're not too far away from here.

It is pretty heavy, maybe castlebar is getting the fluffy stuff?

I might have to go for a bit of climb up the Reek, I'd say it's class up there... even half way up there! :)

30mins of Sleet/Snow in Ballina, North Mayo, temp is dropping 2.9C and DP of -0.2C..

Nothing happeniong at the moment, just very windy...

It's a pity that it looks like is wet snow thats falling. Can you imagine if that was all big dry flakes? There would be some serious drifting in places! I guess the DP isnt low enough for that type of snow.

is it actually sticking? and if so what depth are we talking?

How dissapointing was Sunday/ Monday though? i was hoping for Day after tmro type scenario! all i got a kick in the Goolies!:(

    Yes.

In the beginning it wasn't, then temperatures dropped and the snow became a blizzard and yes it is sticking to everything now.

We had snow, slush and ice, now everything is white again.

There was sleet with heavy bursts of snow for the last hour in Newbridge , its turned to snow now , I would call it a moderate snow shower , with some big flakes in it

No thanks to RTE weather did they not say that word RAIN for Munster:)

They said rain for south Leinster too, the snow started in the morning, not a sign of any rain when it started.

I don't if brilliant is the right word :p but it looks like we are on for several inches of snow.

Thanks Met Eireann for their inferior forecasting. Glad I trusted instinct.

Just bear in mind, contrary to the Met E forecast on the web, the Eagle on the radio this morning said (a couple of times) sleet and snow across the 'middle of the country' - no specific locations - just the 'middle of the country'. G'wan the Eagle. :)

    3.6c DP 0.8c.

Still holding out for 'sneaky snow' here!

Blade edge to the precip on the radar as it meets the colder air :

it's so heavy that even with the ground wet it's sticking!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,550 ✭✭✭Min

I sent a message to Met Eireann letting them know parts of the country are suffering from blizzards right now and their warning is not adequate.

I asked how much snow should we expect.....

Oh the irony. Longest spell of snow we've had since this cold spell began, and not sticking. OK, its wet schlatey schtuff (that spelt right Wolfe??;) )but I was hoping for more. Easing off a bit now, just miserable and wet, and the winds have died down a lot.
