The horse doesn't know its price, just a bad tip. Didn't look like it was trying at all. My mate had a fortune on it e/w. One to keep an eye on if it's backed some day.

My Nap was poor too. Not able to find his old spark at all.

Aw sure don't heed it,it was a tip you recieved,I think it's safe to say we've all gotten a tip that hasn't ran well before.

Also had word for Imperial Shabra, who just went and dotted up! Typical.

Too much bad racing today, hard to make money. I was going to back one of two horses,I went with one in the second at Bath, came third. Of course the other,Silvee, wins at 5/1.

ginger ted won in newcastle (thanks pyros for telling us to keep an eye on him before.won a nice bit on him)

Good stuff mate, won so easily, I forgot to bloody log it in the morning. He'll be one to avoid from now on after he gets penalized.

Been trawling through the cards for the last while, should have all the bets for tomorrow up in a couple of hours. Some decent races tomorrow.

    3:30 Ripon - Norwegian Dancer - 2pts @ 6/1 (Bet365)

Been following this fellow for a while, he often travels as well as anything but finds little in the finish. He is now creeping down to a very winnable mark and has conditions to suit today. 4lbs below his last winning mark and ran very well in a tough race from 8lbs higher, he showed signs of a return to form when running well for a long time last time out, eventually finishing 2 lengths away in 6th. He has plenty of speed and gallops along brilliantly during his races but seems to fade easily. Ripon is typically a track that favours the front runners and with numerous potential pace setters here we should be in for a good gallop which should suit my selection, usually when the pace is quite slow he doesn't fare very well. Both of his career wins have come at Chester over 10f, this race is just shy of 10f so the trip should be no bothers, the only worry is that his two wins were in small fields, 4 and 5 runners respectively but he has had some decent efforts in larger fields. Graham Gibbons takes the ride and he's in great form this season and has been riding well of late, this is his only ride at Ripon tomorrow where he has a decent 12% strike rate and is 1/3 when riding here for Ed McMahon. McMahon has been on fire over the last 3 weeks with 5 of his 15 (33%) horses winning and it's interesting that he very rarely ventures to Ripon, previously he has only sent 18 horses here. Norwegian Dancer was very well backed last time out (12/1 into 11/2) suggesting that they were expecting a better result than he achieved, I feel that next elusive win could be coming along soon for him and if running to ability tomorrow he must surely have a decent chance at quite a nice price, I have him at 4/1 in my book so he's good value for sure. Small win bet for me and let's hope he finds his '09 Chester form.

10/1 Betfair. My selection too for what little that is worth! Conditions seem right.

Cheers Scopper, should have everything going for him, just depends if he wear down the pace setters in the final 2 furlongs, that might be the problem but I fancy him to win soon.

    3:10 Leicester - Ice Viking - 3pts @ 3/1 (Bet365)

The ground at Leicester is currently listed as Heavy so this should be a slog in the mud, but my selection will certainly enjoy that, he has been ultra consistent since going handicapping this year and has placed on 6 of his 7 outings, often finding little when put to the test but he's upped a further 2f to 1 1/2 miles which should do the trick, he's still a maiden despite 14 attempts but this is by far and away his best chance to get off the mark in my opinion. He got hampered (hit another horse) last time out then couldn't find a gap to get through which cost him the race, he ran on well inside the final 100 yards to grab second and looked a big threat to the winner if the line was another 100 yards away. His record with cut in the ground is superb also, he came 2nd on Soft ground at Haydock and placed 3 out of 4 times on Good to Soft. He'll love the conditions and Paul Mulrennan is back on board after Pj McDonald took the ride last time out, Mulrennan has been on board him 5 times and placed on 4 of those occasions. He certainly knows how to get a tune out of this fellow and if he gives him a similar ride over this extra distance then I feel he'll be right there come the end to hopefully win. The trainer form is a bit of a worry, only 3 winners from the last 40 odd sent out but this horse certainly has enough ability to win this race after being stepped back up to 12f, his last and only try over this distance resulted in a 3rd place finish at Pontefract, he was a good 6 lengths off the winner that day but he's improving with every run and should get a race run to suit with the likely pace coming from soft ground specialist, Hurlingham. This is by far and away Given's charges best chance to break his maiden tag and he has everything going for him, currently around 7/2 on the fair which would be a lovely price come tomorrow, I've marked him up as a 2/1 shot and he's certainly the one to beat in this company. Should go very well at this course which in the mud certainly favours horses who finish well from the back and the run in is a 4.5 furlong straight which should give him plenty of time to reel in the pace setters. I think this son of Danehill Dancer has a wonderful chance here and is my Nap of the day. Medium sized bet.

    hi guys,

Gonna go for a double on these 2,
Also ill have a few tips from my mate who backs horses for a livin but only in Irish Racing so when I get them ill throw them up
Thanks 4 tips keep them coming

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Good man peace brother,a tip is always welcome. That Ripon race looks a tricky one Pyro, let's hope he performs, definately has a solid each way chance anyway. Mirrored could be a danger on his best form.

Going to back Ice Viking now. Decent horse in a poor race that should be in the mix. Fingers crossed

    Ice Viking wasn't placed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Neither was Norwegian Dancer. Not to worry, there'll be those days.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,719 ✭✭✭x PyRo

Poor effort today. 4th and 5th. Ice Viking was well backed too. Just not good enough. Norwegian Dancer was a neck out of the places in 4th.

    7:10 Southwell - Westwood - 1pt @ 11/4 (Bet365)

Prominent races who has a good record around here, winning once and coming second four times from 7 attempts. The track is ideal for his front running style and he's drawn in stall 4 today which is perfect for him. He has been in fine fettle of late and ran a good second over C&D when going down to Amenable who won again yesterday, they were nicely clear of the rest in a similarly tough race. He might just get a handy lead from where he's drawn as most of the other potential pace setters are drawn on the other side and this track suits the prominent races a lot more. Dane O'Neill takes the ride and he has traveled up to Southwell from Leicester for only two rides, the other has a lot less claims than this fellow. He has won aboard my selection before and placed a further 3 times from 6 rides so he knows how to get him going and he has a good 11% strike rate at the course and a 25% strike rate this year. Westwood has everything going for him, solid form and a course and jockey that he clearly enjoys so he should be on the premises come the end. Looks a decent price to me, I make him slightly shorter and he's worth a small bet.

Quite a poor month but profitable all the same. Made some poor calls and made some quite nice ones. (Mister Hughie for example!)

Made some shocking decisions along the way, Ice Viking today was poor, Oldjoesaid yesterday but he was well backed which softens the blow for me. Learnt a few things along the way and will hopefully have a good September, coming towards the end of the flat season and my first flat betting season and I'm more than happy how it has went. The NH racing starting again should be exciting and lots more to learn at that too. Not an impressive month but profit is profit.

If you are in 90e profit on the horses I think that makes you a success. Considering that there is so much that can go wrong and yet you still managed to make good calls where it mattered suggests you are getting good at this oul' game. :D

An interesting one to start me off tomorrow..

    3:00 Brighton - Sisindu - 1pt e/w

Quite interested in this one, he has some fancy entries in the coming months in races from Listed level all the way up to an entry in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes, he finished in 9th place on debut but was hardly touched, ran very green at the back of the field and it seemed to be a training exercise for him, he did however find his gears in the final furlong and ran on quite promisingly suggesting he was getting to grips with the racing game, his entries are certainly very interesting and if he's as good as they are he should stand quite a solid chance here. He's a well bred colt sired by Kheleyf suggesting this 7f trip should be ideal for him, there's plenty of speed and stamina on the dam's side too. The cut in the ground should be of no trouble to him and judging by his debut run he might just like it, the only problem is that Brighton is a tough track for horses, especially those who have never experienced it before but nor has any of his opposition either. He's trained by Brian Meehan who has an excellent record with his two year olds and always interests me when they've entries in top races, his two year old record at Brighton is brilliant also with his strike rate being 17% when coming here. Sisindu is his only horse sent to Brighton today also, Martin Dywer is on board and was on him last time out, he's a good jockey and this is one of only two rides for him today at this course and potentially this is his best chance of a winner. He has a decent 11% strike rate at the course and a 14% SR with two year olds. He rarely ever ventures to Brighton either, hasn't rode there this year and has only had 15 rides October '08, winning aboard 4 of them, so he rides the course well. If my selection is out to try today and comes on for that run last time out he should be in the thick of the action against the favourite Auden who is around 1.6 on the fair and way too short in price, he didn't fill me with confidence on debut and looks opposable especially with Ajtebi on board who is better at racing camels. I fancy the Meehan horse to build on his debut experience and justify his entries, ATR forecast him at 10/1 and if I got that price I'd be delighted. Small each way bet for an interesting contender.
