Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    From RTE.ie:
    Apology for delayed train passengers
    Monday, 11 January 2010 11:17

    Iarnród Éireann has apologised to passengers who were on the Dublin to Tralee train last night, which arrived more than four-and-a-half hours late.

    Iarnród Éireann Spokesman Barry Kenny said the train developed problems close to Mallow station and had to operate on reduced engine power.

    Seriously how long would it take to get another 201 /071 to meet it and recover back to Dublin or on to Tralee. At least then it could operate at a reasonable speed

    It would depend on where it was stuck I suppose. There was a 22K set in Tralee which could have added enough motive power to bring it in but was there a driver?

    4 hours :eek:

    No bus :eek::eek:

    Is Iarnród Éireann or Rotem responsible for maintaining these engines? They seem to be failing alot recently, at Monasterevin the wait was 2+ hours if I recall.

    What type of train was it?

    RTE depicts a CAF DVT. :confused:

    if rte said that nearly 100% a 201, since they'd be matched. doubt its a 071

    On a day to day basis Irish Rail. On an a interim basis some agent of the engine manufacturer. I think the manufacturer is owned by Rotem.

    given that the driver had to turn off the lights to get it running, you'd presume it was a DMU, De Dietrichs excepted.
