Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cousin of mine got an ex-lease one last year. He's absolutely in love with it.
All i'd say is that a new 3.0 replaced the 2.7 in the last 6 months so aim for one of those if you can find one. Supposed to be a million times better.

Lovely car but needs large wheels.
I was having a look at them myself on the car pages.
I would say buy an 08 and avoid some of the depreciation at least.
I havent heard any horror stories about reliability etc. From the top of the head, I dont think the diesel are particularily good in relation to co2 which might hurt if importing one

I picked up a new 3.0D Luxury (basic model) towards the end of last year, to drop to a customer on demo. It's a very nice place to be in, but I wasn't in it for too long.

It was absolutley p1ssing it down with rain when I collected it so didn't fancy testing the handling. Rears were spinning up getting away from the traffic lights with anything more than a slight touch on the throttle.

Even though it's more powerful, it didn't feel as quick as the 525d Auto I picked up when I dropped the XF.

Don't have any on fleet (at the moment) so can't comment on the reliability, and we are taking a fairly dim view on the resale value when quoting - but you never know.

2.7 has emissions of 199g so put's it in to the 32% VRT Category with Motor Tax of €1,050 currently. Newer 3.0D has emissions of 179g which means 28% VRT and annual tax of €630 which I could certainly handle in 2-3 years!

Touch screen Sat Nav worked fairly well and the integrated bluetooth was easy enough to connect to.

Go for it, its a great car.

As mentioned above, you have a number of engine choices. It was launched with the 2.7D which is a very smooth engine with plently of grunt really. Then this was replaced with the new 3.0D which is a big step forward in terms of power and economy. This 3L comes in 2 guises:

    a) 237bhp & 369lb/ft, 0-60 in 6.7 max speed 149mph.
    b) 271bhp & 473lb/ft, 0-60 in 5.9 max limited to 155mph, this is referred to as the diesel sport.

The lower powered 3.0D is a 525d competitor as R.O.R mentioned and has similar figures, the higher powered diesel is marginally quicker than the 535d and is a rocket.

Its proven very reliable so far and Jag have topped JD power surveys now for 2 years. I'd be more concerned with depreciation in Ireland.

Also, as mentioned, big wheels are a must. It really makes it look heavy when its on 18s, so go for 19s or 20s if possible - the ride is still excellent on 20s.

I hope it depreciates like a rock. Then I'll buy one in about 4 years. It's the first jag I actually like since the XJ220. I never was a fan of the traditional Jag design. If I won the lotto, I'd get an XFR a lot quicker than I'd get an M5.

I would only buy a used example as I fear values would drop like a stone although dealer prices are very high.
Also dealers are thin on the ground and I do think that could be a problem if reliability were an issue.
