Alternative to Netmeter?

I want something that will monitor my download amounts. I've been using NetMeter but the .tlg file keeps getting corrupt. I have to keep mentally adding on figures to whats shown and I'm sick of it.

Is there anything that will let me enter a starting value or edit the values on the meter? I don't want DU Meter as I don't want to pay. I've tried another one called BitMeter but that too doesn't seem to let you adjust the figures. Maybe it's not possible?

the only real way to be sure is to get a router capable of logging bandwidth usage that will sit between your modem and your PC(s) and games consoles etc. and monitor ALL the data coming in and going out, unless you only have the one device in use, in which case one of those monitors will probably do for a rough guide as long as you keep it running whenever your PC is turned on (i.e. stick it in your startup items and never close it).

I too use NetMeter,version 1.1.3 with windows xp and have used it for the last 7 months without any problems.

I see on the Netmeter site that its been updated to 1.1.4 beta and that the Author mentions "with the introduction of Windows Vista several problems with my implementation of NIC monitoring emerged. Unfortunately i wasn't able to solve these problems 100% as yet. There are still some mysterious crashes and things like interfaces not showing up in NetMeter's config screen."

I dont know if your using Windows Vista or/and the 1.1.4 NetMeter Beta but perhaps that could be where the problem lies.

I actually downloaded it and tried it for the first time ever and can't see why you would buy it. It doesn't show the total downloaded under the graph which is the deal breaker for me. NetMeter does so I think I'll stick with that. I'll just have to keep calculating the correct figure in my head.

Vibe666 I only tried one of the links you gave (Networx) for the reason I don't like installing and then uninstalling loads of programs. Networx was a zipped folder.

The best solution is in my opinion a router with Tomato or DD-WRT firmware put on it.

Monitors all downloads from all sources so you never go over your download cap.
