sd card on my mac

Hi guys.. have recorded a piece of video footage on an sd card but my imac wont read it.. it reads a default message of The movie “SV203123.AVI” can’t be opened. Use logic pro a lot but dont come across i movie too much. Any advice would be great.. cheers in advance
