Simple solution to draft coming in extractor hood?

Just wondering if anyone has a similar issue? When windy the draught coming in is quite significant and cold.

Apart from the cold air, it is also noisy as well.

Any advice appreciated. It vents out under the soffit via grille aire vent on the conservatory. So the vent is on the underside of the soffit and horizontal to the ground if this makes sense?

One of these louvered vent covers

Another thing is to get some fine mesh steel or chicken wire. wrap it into a dense net. Make sure to have it move to outside the wall for ease of removal etc The below pic shows the mesh in red and the vent cover in front of it

That sort of louver wont work if the vent is horizontal in the soffit.

I have a similar louver but it also has a cowl on top of it, whenever the cowl falls of the difference is very noticeable...

Does the mesh not end up in a greasy mess?

Try this http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/BG4BS.html you can fit it anywhere along a standard 4" duct or if necessary on top of the extractor hood. Control air behind the Belgard pub in Tallaght would have them off the shelf.

This type is perfect. There is a couple of different varients and you will find one in a homebase or woodies. They are commonly fitted in ensuites that go out through the roof tile. Just make sure to fit it the right way around ie the wind comeing in should be blowing against the flap....
