Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Villarreal quite sloppy out there.

Even they sky commentators picking up on it.

Surprising considering they have a full stregth side out.

Extemely poor game. Pity Aspas did not put that chance away a while ago, would have made a better game of it

    Peno!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    90min

Villarreal could be eliminated by Celta

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Goal............

Villarreal are eliminated by lower division Celta.

Deserves them right for not really bothering their arse all game.

    Wow!!!

Barca or Sevilla will be out tomorrow, as too either Depor or Valencia, and with Atletico 3-0 down.

It really gives leave the door wide open for a underdog to at least reach the final.

Interesting that the Spanish cup is generating more interest here than the good old FA Cup, with a whole fixture list taking place earlier tonight....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Looking forward to tonights game. Barca WILL score, no doubt. Depends on how Sevilla cope with that. They are in awful form at the moment, losing their last 3 at home I think. I think Barca to win 1-3 tonight.

With that said, I would be happy with that scoreline reversed if it meant 3 points against the same opposition Saturday.

LOL at Villareal last night. It was a pretty poor game, but fair play to Celta, they kept going and arguably got their just reward, even if I feel the foul for the peno came outside the box.

Brum v Forest, Pompey v Coventry really gets the blood flowing doesn't it?

Anyway I hope Barca get dumped out tonight after last weeks farrago.

Segunda div Hercules, Recre and Rayo are all ahead in their ties so hopefully there will be a few new faces in the semi-final stage. In fairness teams like Mallorca, Osasuna, Recre and Getafe all reached finals in recent years. What the RFEF needs to do is drop the two-legged format and stop giving primera/european teams such an easy ride (and I say this as a Valencia fan)

Sevilla must be careful IMO that they don't get an absolute hiding. I think it will be a rout by Barcelona

Is Navas still injured for Sevilla?

Navas is back along with Duscher and Navarro. Perotti though will miss out.

That includes two premiership sides at least. A lot of people wouldn't even have heard of Villarreal and Celta, even if they are more attractive.

    Deportivo lineup:
Manu, Laure, Piscu, Zé Castro, Manuel Pablo, Juan Rodríguez, Antonio Tomás, Juca, Filipe Luis, Valerón, Bodipo

    Valencia lineup:
Moyá, Miguel, David Navarro, Marchena, Mathieu, Manuel Fernandes, Albelda, Vicente, Silva, Chori Domínguez, Zigic

The loss of Guardado is going to be massive for Depor. It could well end there valiant Champions league charge. No Villa but a debut at last for Dominguez.

Joaquín joins Villa on the bench but more worryingly is that both Mata and Bruno have been rested and didnt make the squad. I dont think that Unai Emery is taking this thing seriously.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 285 ✭✭Sr. Pirotecnic

Bruno and Mata have been a bit ropey in recent weeks. Valencia have put out a good XI in fairness with a few big guns on the bench. Looking forward to seeing el Chori in action. Yet another **** crowd at Riazor I see.

Villa, Bruno, Mata, Banega, Baraja all benched or not in the squad. Unai must have massive faith in his side considering they need two goals. I dont fancy them to be honest.

EDIT: Joaquín also! Valencia are a good team but not good enough to do without that lot in my opinion though saying that Depor are missing a few also but mostly through injury.

    Zigic

    Keeper!

that goal was coming in fairness

emery always make big changes for the cup and europa league, too many probably but tonight - baraja and bruno we can do without and fernandes and the front two deserve a go ahead of the established first teamers, who are waiting in the wings in any case.

we owe depor for '95 in the rain and a few years ago behind closed doors.

    Goal............

    2 - 0

    Zigic

    Valencia doing the unthinkable.

    6ft 8 - Two headers - Whats the odds!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 285 ✭✭Sr. Pirotecnic

    0-2

    Zigic again
    (anyone want to buy him?)

it's a minority opinion but i love the copa del rey!

    Goal..........

    2 - 1

    Depor back in it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭Mgoraf

Just turned on in time to see Felipe's goal. Game on! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Barca lineup:
Pinto; Alves, Piqué, Puyol, Abidal; Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta; Messi, Ibrahimovic, Henry

Pep rolls out the big boys.

    EDIT:

    Sevilla lineup:
PALOP; KONKO, ESCUDÉ, DRAGUTINOVIC, FERNANDO NAVARRO; DUSCHER, ROMARIC; NAVAS, RENATO, ADRIANO; NEGREDO

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭Mgoraf

Any news on the Sevilla lineup?

Are either Sevilla or Barca missing any key African players?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Another heavyweight bites the dust.

The winner of Barca -v- Sevilla must now be the overwheloming favourite for the Copa.

Barca are missing Keita and Yaya Toure

Sevilla are missing Freddie Kanoute and another whose name escapes me right now.

Sevilla are worst off by the sounds of that. Is that right ?

The Sevilla president looks like Kaiser Soze on the boat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 285 ✭✭Sr. Pirotecnic

balls to that, could have gone either way, some great chances missed by both sides, oh well. Good cup game. depor get barcelona/sevilla in next round. Osasuna and racoing also throguh. no europa league until late feb so time to get the heads down and clock up the points in the league.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Awful conditions here. Could hinder the game as a spectacle. Better start from Sevilla, drawing a good save from Pinto.

But come on like, Scott Minto? Christ

    Sevilla banging on Barcas door.

how many goals do barca need to qualify for the next round ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 585 ✭✭✭deise48

do away goals count in this comp?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

    Dunno about the goals.

Barca need to change their formation. They need some one to drop back and support.

    a 0-2 win will do

    Yes

Navas could truly f**k Abidal tonight.

Barca rarely, if ever change formation. Already you will notice Sevilla have slowed considerably.

    LoL

    Pinto got away with that.

Very soft decision by the ref.

Come on Barca!!! (more games = greater chance for Madrid to usurp them!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

Very flat performance from Barca in the 1st half. No real threats. Need to up a few gears in the 2nd or its adios.
