Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys, could you please advise me on the best way to get from Dublin City to Killaloe using public transport. I prefer to travel by train if possible but it's not essential. I will be staying for one night in July (a Saturday) to attend a wedding.

    Thank you all in advance!

The nearest train station is Birdhill, about 6km away. You could ask for someone to pick you up or get a taxi. There are only a few trains a day, so another option is to get a train to Limerick (14-15 trains a day) and then bus / lift /taxi for 29 km.

Use the Journey Planner here www.irishrail.ie or the timetables http://www.irishrail.ie/your_journey/printed_timetables.asp

Bus wise, you can get Bus Éireann route 12 to Limerick and then route 345 to Killaloe (only 2 buses per day).

Train from Heuston to Ballybrophy then change and onto birdhill.
You will need to get a taxi from Birdhill to Killaloe - couple of mins way - but you will need to pre order the taxi to pick you up off the train.

I know this because I too am attending a wedding there in July.

Is the wedding on the 10th of July in the lakeside by any chance???

Cheers guys, I was just checking the journey planner thingie, very handy! Not many trains but the times suit. I have really no faith in Irish Rail (I spent over 12 years at their mercy before I moved to the city centre) I notice there is a very short change over in Ballybrophy, less than 10 minutes infact, does anyone know if you have to change trains? If you do, does anyone know if one train is late will the other one hang on? I'm sure Ballybrophy is lovely but don't want to be stuck there over night unexpectantly!!! Cheers

    EDIT: Same wedding!!!!!

You can get the train from Dublin to Birdhill train station and get a taxi from there to Killaloe, it is no more than 10 minutes from there or you can get a bus from Dublin to Limerick train station and take the bus (route 323) to Killaloe.
As far as I know only one bus runs from Limerick to Killaloe on a Saturday at 13.00.
    Here is the timetable http://www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1211878714-Table-323--2605.pdf

I hope this is of some help
