Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

BMW Trouble

I drive a 320 M Sport - Yesterday on the way to work I got a load of warning lights on the car, so I dropped it into a BMW dealer (am I allowed name?) to have it looked at.

They had a look at it and told me I needed a complete new front suspension and steering rack - all very expensive stuff. First of all I got them to email me the estimate and then sent it on to a BMW dealer in Northern Ireland that I use and would highly recommend. They halved the quote given to me by the Dublin dealer.

I picked the car up off the Dublin dealer today and all warning lights are now off - I appreciate that this may have been done when up on the computer - but I have a very strong feeling that the dealership may have been over telling me I need more than I actually do because they were completely backtracking when they heard I was going to another dealer - saying that the car might not actually need all the parts that the included in their estimate etc....

Would they actually have attempted to tell me I needed parts that I actually didn't require, if so what should I do? I suppose I'll find out for certain once I get the car up the north and have it looked at....

If you get a different response up North I'd get a written quote off them of whats wrong and send the two quotes/letters to SIMI and make a complaint about the Dublin dealer.

OP, do you want to post up the estimate? To be fair, a lot of suspension parts aren't as simple as working/broken - they deteriorate gradually, and when to replace them really depends on the tolerance of the owner.

If this is the case, of course the dealer would prefer to replace them earlier rather than later. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're out to rip you off.
