Only got to catch up with the first 3 episodes of the series last night. Very disappointed with the first. The second was also a bit meh...I love Emily but I'm not too pushed on Naomi.

I wish they wouldn't make one person the primary focus of each episode. It's good to an extent, but we're not seeing enough interraction between all the characters.

Last night's episode was brilliant, very powerful. Jack O'Connor is the best actor on the show by a mile, I hope he gets something good after this. I know Cook is an arsehole but I find him quite hot :o

I think I'm going to re-watch the first 2 series over the next few weeks. As someone else said, I'm really missing the humour! It's gotten too dark for my liking.

I hate Cook's character but I think that actor is actually rather good to be honest. Not bad at all.

An ok episode but less indivudual stuff and more group stuff please. Fair enough a background story is ok sometimes but I'd rather see them more as a group like the first two seasons.

Great episode tonight, good to see a more real family in Skins. Classic line too:
Am I making you wet darling?
    lol

It's Effie and Freddie's episode next week, looks like a good one!

That episode last night was my least favourite of the series so far. Next weeks episode looks epic tho.

I'm just after catching up on episode 3 and 4 last night. Cooks episode was very good, I agree with previous posts I wish it wasnt so much focused on just the individual on each one.

I still think the first one was the worst of season 4 so far. Looking forward to thursdays episode.

Anyone watching this now? Bets on Effie being pregnant....

    Its Will Young

Jesus christ, when did Skins get SO depressing? It used to be really witty.I know they tried tonight with
    Will Young and Michael Jackson
but it's such a downer to watch these days.

To be honest its a pretty depressing time with this recession.. I though it was a good esp tonight.. I think its picking up this season... Took a few esps to get into it but it should get better

Very depressing episode. JJ episode next week looks great

I had this episode on last night when I was in bed and I spent the whole episode saying "FFS get over yourself Effy!"

It was so irritating, the Will Young Michael Jackson thing and the generic good looking guy trying to be dramatic and stupid Effy with her pathetic lame problems. I miss silent Effy from series 1, she was so much cooler. Cook stood out in his scenes, that actor is brilliant.

That being said, I didn't turn it off so I suppose it did it's job...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,095 ✭✭✭LadyMayBelle

I watched and i agree, I prefer silent Effy. I guess though it's only been a matter of time before they picked on the mental illness aspect and Effy's your token candidate. Ah, the Stonem household..

The vagueness of the whole episode I liked though, altho it felt like parts were missing, edited out, but then maybe that's what they were trying to do.

Went a bit mad over the top with regards what kids do, I know Skins is far from realistic but what 16 year olds move in together like that..where do they get their money (Esp Noami in last week episode)! Feck sake!

Have to agree Skins has gone to shit. The last series was awful and full of idiotic characters.

The Inbetweeners and Misfits are much much better imo.

Agreed! Skins was a once-off. Series one should have been it!

Never got involved with the new cast like I did with the old ones.

Well Freddy was sleeping over with Effy because she had a free house. Her mam was on holiday.

Naomi's house was a half-way house for her Mam's hippie friends. I guess her Mam is away travelling now so she has it and is letting Emily stay with her

4 out of ten. serriously, i'm only watching this out of tribute to the season 1 cast.

Am I the only one that liked the other night? I thought it was great.

I thought it was sh*t.. Best thing about it was Will Young.. And I never thought I ever type those words...

Thought that episode was fairly ****, so basically Freddie's episode was about Effy...

I just think that the acting and writing isn't as good.
I quite like Cook as a character though and enjoy watching the twins.
But as a tv show it's just not up to the standard.

Seems like the writers picked up on Effy's drop in popularity after season three, so instead of returning her to her former glory (i.e. as the magnificent bastard of the first two series) they're instead trying to make her into another Cassie.
Not impressed with this at all.

Effy needs to get off the drugs, in fairness. She's the only eye candy on it so I hope she doesn't top herself.

Loved the Bez cameo- the BAFTA's in the post :D

Was standing next to her in a pub on Saturday night in Manchester, she is stunning in person.

Worst episode in a long time. Even worse than the first one with Thomas. Pity cos I like JJ

Unfortunately I agree with you. I thought it would be hard to mess up with a character as likeable as JJ but they somehow managed it.

Surely it can't be worse than last week!! If it is I won't bother and it truly is the death knell of Skins.

The only thing last night's episode offered was a few well needed laughs.

But it was really a load of stereotyping, cheesy bollocks.

They should just base the whole show around Cook.
He is the only character worth a fcuk.
I would think that the Effy episode is going to be a load of depressing tripe.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,010 ✭✭✭Tech3

Just looking at the previous two episodes with Sky+ what a pile of muck they have been. JJ's one was absolute rubbish and seriously gay ending on it. Not expecting much more from the rest of the season. Cook is as funny as ever though.

theres more holes in this story then swiss cheese

The only way this is going to redeem itself is for them to start handing me the drugs, so i can watch it

    Serriously!

skns has really gone downhill :(
series 1+2 were great, mainly because although each episode was mainly about 1 character there was still so much more interaction with the other characters and with other storylines running.
it is too much about 1 character now and it really weakens the show.
its gotten too dark and miserable now, not enough fun and bonkers behaviour!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭skeleton_boy

I thought JJ's episode was the best for a long, long time. Alot of laughs which skins hasn't provided in some time.

He's the most irritating knob head ever. Ruins the show. Man, if ever anyone needs a punch in the face it's that guy.

JJs episode was the only one he didn't wreck my head in because he was pretty funny in it.("Where you been? It's been two days, I've had to drink my own piss!") The standing around naked was really unecessary tough.

im absolutely shocked at tonights episode!!!!! :(
    why skins writers??!!! why??!!!
    i feel sick.....

that ending was some load of bollix, worst episode yet by far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,028 ✭✭✭Shelga

That was so weird. They really are just going for the shock factor now, with Effy having a breakdown 10 times an episode and now that. Yawn.

I used to slightly disagree with people who thought series 1&2 were better but not now...

I didn't watch it tonight, are you serious?!

Although I wouldn't put anything past the writers at this stage.

I don't know. I say Freddie got the bat off your man and bludgeoned him. < is prob what they want us to think and the condolence book thing confuses it all up again.

    Either way.................MISFITS FTW

The shrink is in next week's episode withot a scratch on him, Freddie is definitely dead.
Can't believe they killed a character again, is this a Skins rule or something?
