the prob with capitalism is it tends to 'want more'
prob with socialism is it's open to abuse more

however the middle cround = Sweden seems to work well.

I find it so hard to believe that Leo is a doctor after his performance the last night, it was shocking....

Some good points about healthcare from both McGuirk and Kathleen. Shouldn't be about profit margin.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,387 ✭✭✭✭Sardonicat

Ah sure, myself and 400,000 others will be insulating old houses after FG take to the helm.

Anyone else thinks that Kathleen sounds like someone who has just been given bad news. She has a real "Deirdre of the sorrows" tone to her voice.

she does, but i likes where she's coming from

John McGuirk coming off as a bit of a prick these last few moments. He speaks well but he seems to be haranguing poor old Kathleen.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,873 ✭✭✭Skid

Constantin Gurdgiev on the twitter says
This was intellectually manipulative comparison on life expectancy, males live shorter lives on average within class. The quango guy is on purpose presenting over-dramatized gap that is partially explained by pure gender difference in life expectancy.A more valid comparison would be across classes, but within same gender.

To be honest, I'm too knackered to read it, but he usually knows what he is talking about.

Have been having the odd sneaky peak* at the health sciences forum to see if they (the docs) have anything to say about it. Nada. Of course, that doesn't mean they don't post elsewhere on Boards about these things, including here, but still thought it was a bit strange.

*Always feel like i'm encroaching on there, for some reason.

yes, but he is an excellent speaker - which usually means someone who has thought things through.

he's pro trad capitalism - even to the point of allowing mkt forces resolve th bank issue.

not sure i'dagree with his philospohy but i love someone who can argue clearly without wandering off of bluffig.

the guy at the end is good also.

in fact it's a good panel and vinny is letting them talk! for once

Sometimes doctors do us very few favours when they enter political or public life - Professor Drumm, need I say anymore.
