Appointing these young FFs to the Senate is madness, but then again maybe it's to keep them out of the way of what might be percieved as the "real politics" in the Dáil itself. Madness though. But Kenny will have vanquished this relic of the political system before too long.

Can the leader of the opposition just appoint people to the Seanda?

took a while to get her started tonight...

I, too, am sick of these union pr1cks.. they are the reason that Labour got no vote from me... We CANNOT afford the public service, and there is a HUGE amount of non frontline staff that should have been shed at this stage.. The union leaders are traitors...

"Keyesian type investment". I remember a few short years ago "them in the know" would snigger if you mentioned Keynes and ruffle your hair and smirk at your naivety.

Why are alternative policies to the bailout delusional to vincent, but attempting to stick to the bailout is going to fail? I realise commentators and journalists get to pick and chose their opinions and policy to an extent but he's taking the piss tonight, unless he has a super secret third way that he's hiding from us.

People are not spending money cause they have wised up to the fact that this country is too expensive.

With regard to the unions defending the minimum wage.. Be advised that in defending the minimum wage these lads are also defending their own outrageous wages.. as they have their own pay scales based on the minimum wage... so if the minimum wage takes a hit, they then take a hit as well..

    http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/siptu-boss-refuses-cut-to-8364124000-pay-1915673.html
THE leader of the country's biggest union is not considering a cut in his €124,000 pay while his members are facing wage reductions and job losses.
Jack O'Connor, whose annual salary is €124,895, said a drop in wages would be used as "an excuse to drive pay cuts across the economy".

Jack O'Connor makes this point, but in reverse in the above story...

Like Gilmore and Rabbitte? This labour/union bashing is boring and unthinking, people voted for this party, even if you didn't.

I think that report is a load of bollox as well...

They blamed the Government, all of who are now gone, and took minimal blame themselves.. Typical civil service response.. blame those who are comfortable and cant be held accountable.. ridiculous.

All of that crowd are chancers though slowly moving to the neo liberal consensus overtime.

Have more respect for old school socialists like Joe Higgins, Clare Daly, etc.
