What would ye reckon girls.. I'd say Ciara was down the hairdressers before she came in .. That looks like a new do to me.. (albeit looking at it with MAN eyes)

I always said that the VB show could never have a last minute female guest. 4 hours of makeup and hairdressers without including the new dress shopping restrict VB female guests. Cassie just set the standard too high.

yer one , the QUANGO , queen , pontificating to settled people about how we need to examine our prejudices towards tinkers , interesting how she refered to tinkers being free and not being tied down by property and jobs , ive said it before , lefty academic types have a huge sneaking regard for the likes of tinkers , criminals etc , they see them as exotic , baschically the anthisetis of the hated middle class

No fear you will ever be confused with an academic type, thats for sure.

lol.. I was just thinking the same when I saaw it.. MelAnie certainly wont appreciate that... It was also a bit strange that they would focus on yet another "academic" survey, when most people were probably interested on the G Ryan gossip.. well I was anyway

At least 20 bodies have been found at a home in Hardin, Texas, a federal official says.

    cnn.com

EDIT: same story on Sky News...

Up To 30 Bodies Discovered In 'Mass Grave'

    lol.. sensationalist, much?

Why does everyone shy away from asking the traveller community the hard questions....
I have seen what happened to a dog of a friend of mine.....
alot of not so nice words come to mind.... i cant use em here because i might offend leftys and do gooders.

I say to the do gooders, please live beside these people for 3 months... then lets see what you think

Firstly, are those statistics accurate? And if so, please cite the source. :)

Secondly, if you were an employer, would you employ a traveller?

My uncle for years employed a traveller, the guy was a great worker and partially deaf.

    Dissmembered too.

Update: no bodies have been found. This is a "potential" grave, based on a tip-off from a psychic.
    So yes, Jon. Sensationalist much

yeah, sounds horrific.. sounds like a lot of missing children/persons cases are gonna be solved in one go.. and a new serial killer is going to join the ranks of Dahmer, Fred West etc etc...

you misunderstand me.. I was talking about Sky's tendency to exaggerate..

    Remember:
Tiger Woods seriously injured in car crash
    then changed to
Tiger Woods slightly injured in car crash
    then changed to
Tiger Woods uninjured after car crash
    then changed to
Tiger Woods' wife attacks him with golf club

No, I didn't misunderstand you. I was agreeing with you.

Breaking news: "No evidence of a mass grave. We will of course bring you more of that story when we get it."

    I love it :D

Very poor show tonight. No balance whatsoever. I'd have loved if somebody like Ian O'Doherty had been on the panel as well.

It's obvious that Travellers do experience discrimination but there are also issues that the Traveller representative should be addressing with regard to the behaviour of some Travellers. Vincent Browne seems to dismiss anybody who raises these points as being cranks and loopers and bordering on racist. Vinnie should come down from his middle-class ivory tower for a while.

im not an employer but my brother is , he employed a family of tinkers to paint his farm buildings four summers ago , they ripped him off with the age old trick of using a ratio of 9 : 1 diesel to paint , paint was gone off the roofs within six months , the same bunch of criminals came back a few months later and were trying to flog some ( most likely stolen) merchandise , when my brother wasnt buying , they poisioned my dog

I wonder would Vinny or any of his ilk think the same if there was a halting site located close to their homes? Of course that would never happen because the Travellers are dumped into the poorer parts of the city and not anywhere near the areas where their bleeding heart champions live.

Very easy to pontificate in this situation.

Nice anecdote, but you haven't answered my questions. Firstly, from where did you glean your statistics? Secondly, if you were an employer, would you give a job to a traveller? Yes or No. If your unemployment figure is accurate, your answer to that second question just might give some clues as to exactly why that is the case.

I used to live quite near to a halting site and an unofficial encampment, and (apart from a disturbing spate of suicides amongst young male travellers) their presence in the area was never an issue. Of course, I'm not suggesting that - based solely on my own experiences - all travellers are decent, law-abiding people. Only an idiot would make such a generalisation.

This is the problem with a lot of these civil liberties and "socialist" contributors to panels.. I'm sure that UCD academic for "equality studies" has never had any encounters with the travelling community, as she moves in different circles.. She can pontificate to the rest of us from her ivory tower, as she doesnt have to deal with them..

I've heard stories of hotels being sued for discrimination, when they have turned away traveller weddings.. I mean the last thing hotels want to do is to turn down business, but they have genuine fears that the place will be broken up.. They should bring that woman from UCD down to a hotel in the midlands and let her run it for a few months, let her walk in the shoes of those people that she would call discriminatory, when in reality they are just trying to protect their property..

Having said that, there was a family of Travellers that were living just outside my nearest town.. they pulled up there for a couple of years, albeit illegally but in a discrete enough place.. they didnt bother anybody, and kept the place spotless, and nobody had a problem with them.. These however, in my experience, would be more the exception than the rule.. Pavey Point would have us believe that all Travellers behave like this, but sadly this is not the case..
