Jaysus, if they could count past five maybe they'd discover the M6 non-rocky road to Dublin. Typical behind the times Galwegians

Jump on the Rollercoaster MAGIC "white" CARPET RIDE.

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEEzbFxEbB8

I like to dream yes, yes, right between my sound machine
On a cloud of sound I drift in the night
Any place it goes is right
Goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here

Well, you don't know what we can find
Why don't you come with me little girl
    On a magic carpet ride
You don't know what we can see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me
    Fantasy will set you free
    Close your eyes girl
    Look inside girl
Let the sound take you away

    Mike Oldfield: '5 Miles Out'

Tune about an approaching storm. Used to actually happen one time!

    Over my shoulder.
    Running away.
    Feels like I'm falling.
    Losing my day.

    Cold!
    And dry!
    Cold!
    And dry.

    Forgot my daylight.
    Torture my night.
    Feels like I'm falling.
    Far out of sight.

    Cold!
    Drunk!
    Tired!
    Lost.

Net Zero means we are paying for the destruction of our economy and society in pursuit of an unachievable and pointless policy.

    "Sky cold, skin blue..

Why is eternity forever? The horizon deceives...
Some sail their ships above sea, sailing on winds of belief.
While waves destroy our theories bear me again

Just a little medley for you today >>>

    If I were a forecaster,
    and you were a lady,
    would you marry me anyway?
    and have my baby ...

    I left your sun
    in San Francisco,
    high on a hill,
    it calls to me ...

Snowdrops on roses and hailstones on kittens,
Bright shiny funnels and east winds from Britain,
Furious winds that blow in from the sea,
These are the things missed by Deep Easterly ...

I'll marry you M.T, don't let the fact that I am not as lady stop us. Btw, how big is your wallet?

A cheerful tune to offer a little hope in these dull times:

"I wanna see the sunshine after the rain,
I wanna see bluebirds flying over the mountains again.
Oh where is the silver lining
    Shining at the rainbow's end?
    "

Not large enough, but my optimism is unbounded. Strictly for the ladies though, don't let this Vancouver business throw you off.

Here's a song that is all about a weather event, the great storm of November 10-11, 1975, that sank the lake freighter Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0DqPSF2fyo&feature=related

The singer, Gordon Lightfoot, is Canada's best known folk singer and has any number of other songs with weather references in them.

This storm was fairly similar to the Oct 1987 storm in structure, and I was living near Georgian Bay (the eastern part of Lake Huron) at that time, the weather there on the 11th was very mild and extremely windy from the southwest, bringing down some large trees a few miles up the road from my house in Longford Mills (yes really).

"Fellas, it's been good to know ya."

Actually a favourate song of mine! "T'was the witch of November come stealing" The singer captures the pure essence of November's weather characteristics. A real tragic story though. :(, but one that is well told in that song.

I'm a couple of days late with this one:

    http://ca.video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?p=in+the+early+morning+rain+youtube

You get a selection, I really liked the Eva Cassidy version, then you could click on Gordon Lightfoot's more familiar rendition of it. This was my "down and out" song as a young man, we all had one I guess.

Heard this tune earlier on the radio, apt for the time of year we are in:

    FOREVER AUTUMN

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near
The winter winds will be much colder
    Now you're not here.

I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear

I wish that I was flying with them
    ...

Thanks for posting this :) It was always a favourite and I'd completely forgotten about it
A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes ...

    Very apt!!

Great sing MT, sounds like the same tune as Back Home in Derry by Bobby Sands about a convict being transported to Australia. Wonder if he was influenced by Lightfoot's song?

A profoundly beautiful and overpowering tune. Not really weather related but I love they way the protaganist makes use of Autumnal themed metaphors to emphasize his elation:

"To the outside the dead leaves they all blow,
Before they died had trees to hang their hope.

And every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral.
And every occasion once more it's called the funeral.
And every occasion I'm ready for the funeral.
Every occasion of one brilliant day funeral.
    "
