Hi there, the battery light has recently (last 20 miles) come on in my car, it starts fine and all and the electrics work fine (probably because the battery is nearly full). When i pick up any bit of speed, it starts kinda humming. The noise is hard to explain, it sounds a bit like its an electric car when the speed goes high!! Any ideas what the problem could be? is it necessarily the alternator? i got a quote of 450e from a Ford dealer if it's the alternator needs to be replaced :( They can't see it until Monday though :(

The alternator drive belt may be slipping?
