just looking for opinions here, alot of djs like axwell , laidback luke, sweedish house mafia..etc are going around saying there playing house music!! simply because imo it has a cool ring to it "hoooouse muzik"... ok fair is fair maybe im am nit picking here and probably a bit snobby, but from what i can gather what these guys play is not house!!!

to me its sounds like commercial dance muzik, tarted up classics... just big build ups and big thumping beats....am i not hearing the muzik or
just old n sh#t or maybe stuck on one sound and being a pain in the hole
    ?????
it just gets under my skin that music...a mate woul say to me got a lethal hous e cd here, il bang it on and flick through it within 5 minutes and say f*ck that...

am i on my own here???

House these days is an all encompassing term for music which has a 128 BPM and prominent kick on each beat. What SHM and the likes play is basically a mix of Electro / Progressive house aimed at the commercial market. There is many different sub-genres of House music. Problem is as it's an all encompassing term it is often used to describe their music, like how people used to call pretty much all dance music Techno.

Unfortunately I feel House music has been ruined with it's recent commercialisation. Tech House, Deep House and Minimal House are all decent sub-genres though.
