Does Bread Soda go off? I have the packet open but in a plastic bag with a knot in it. I am finding my brown bread is not rising like it should? Help.............my brown bread is not rising like it should??

I wouldn't have thought so, it's just Sodium Bicarbonate. I can imagine that Baking Powder, which contains an acid component as well, might deteriorate if it got damp, but I can't see plain soda doing the same.
