Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks

the car (2003 318i) has an oil leak from the rocker cover gasket. there is oil in the expansion tank aswell..... am i right in thinking this is the head gasket failing aswell? its an auto so could it be the rad failing instead?

Anybody recommend someone in dublin to do the RC gasket and diagnose the other bits?

    Help much appreciated,

    pedro

Manuals to have a rad too...
Most likely your oil separator valve is gone and also killed your valve cover gasket too.
There is a few BMW specialists in Dublin and surroudings. You can try AC Car Sales. I can never remember the names of the others. There is one too on the Naas Road, called MAC Motors something I believe.

Yeah I am not 100% sure, I know some auto models are indeed cooled with the help of the radiator and others are done by air.
I suspect you are having 2 issues here, knowing that if your car has a heat exchanger and pipes under it to cool down the transmission oil, and this one is messed up, it could indeed get oil into the cooling system, which seems to be what you are having too.
As far as I know, this thing alone might be expensive.

You will definitely know more after a good diagnostic and professional advice.

    Good luck, keep us updated.
