Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've just bought a pair of Turtlebeach X1 headphones from here: http://www.limexb360.co.uk/product/Ear_Force_X1_Headphones_TBEFX1

From the reviews I've read it seems like everthing you need is in the box.

However, going by this diagram and some other reviews, you seem to need to use a splitter with your existing phono cables.

I'm not in front of my Xbox at the moment, but from memory, I'm just using a HDMI cable to the telly without any other cables, phono or otherwise. I'm wondering whether I'll need to buy a separate cable or if I'm actually covered with what comes in the box of these headphones?

Anyone got them or something similar?

You could very well have to change over to component (R/G/B + R/W phono).

The regular headset covers one ear and leaves the other ear free to hear the game sounds from the TV. These phones cover both ears, obviously impairing the game sounds. So you've got a multi-adapter there beside the TV that takes the audio from the White+Red phonos on the xbox cable and puts them into the TV and out to the 3.5mm female jack (bottom green) which is hooked up to the male jack and thus you get game noise out your headphones too.

This doesn't apply for HDMI, because the audio is sent with the video along the same cable. It is possible that there exists a connector not unlike the phono one there, that acts as an interface between the HDMI cable from teh xbox and the port on your TV, it lets the audio & video go through, but also takes a feed from the audio pins and puts them to a 3.5mm female jack. It probably doesn't come with those phones though.

I had a similar issue when I picked up the X41 headset, I still use the HDMI for carrying picture to the TV but I also use the MS "Optical/RCA Audio adapter included for non-HDMI supported stereo systems" to carry the sound to the headset.

This adapter came included with the Elite I purchased during the summer but I believe MS stopped including it and now sell it as a separate part.

Crap. Thanks for the replies guys. There's another €20 I don't really have to spend on this. Oh Well.

I have them and use them with the HDMI, I connected the green jack to my headphone socket on the telly, the USB power connection to the USB on my telly, if your telly does not have a USB then any USB will do, I.E. laptop, desktop, phone charger, etc or use the supplied USB extension cable to connect to your Xbox. I had mine connected to my Yamaha amp but there was to many cables and the USB on Headphone socket are side by side on my telly, it was neater!

Also you will have to go into settings (on your Xbox) and change the voice to play through both, I think default is through the headset. They will work perfectly. HTH.

P.S. the play and charge kit and wired controllers give a little humming noise.

Thanks. When they arrive, I'll come back to this thread to re-read. No doubt it'll make more sense then.

It sounds like you have a Surround sound system as well as your telly (mention of yamaha). I don't have this, so it might be different to set up.

I bypassed the sound system to use these, its easy when you see them, green plug into the headphone socket on your telly and then plug the the USB power cable into a USB slot, on your telly, XBOX, phone/mp3 charger, etc. Come back with any questions.

Assuming your TV has a headphone socket. I've got new TV and guess what, it doesn't have a headphone socket...

Its very rare for a telly not to have a HP socket, I have 4 LCD's and 3 plasma's, all have a HP socket, this is my " new " telly and it has a HP socket http://www.sharp.eu/cps/rde/xchg/scee/hs.xsl/-/html/product_details.htm?product=LC52LE700E&cat=111. You can also connect it to the red and white phono "out" on your telly.

See here for the manufacturers instructions. http://turtlebeach.com/support/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=609220155.
