Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not being smart but are you sure there is one....

Says in radio handbook that there is one but I can't find it !!!

I'd say it doesn't have one unless you ordered it. The manual is a generic one so may show stuff that you do not have.

If there is a round socket called Aux-In,it will accept a jack plug from the headphone output of an Ipod. It's not a docking port .

nice, seems to be standard above SE spec alright, maybe ring a VW dealer ASAP, just before 6pm and the guys will be able to tell you exactly over the phone where it is.

they list a multimedia Aux in alright. it's not in the armrest is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭Ryan T

    No not in the armrest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,507 ✭✭✭cml387

    Radio/CD player RCD310 inc 6 speakers and aux-in socket

It's an input socket on the radio itself

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭Ryan T

So is it on the front of the radio

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,401 ✭✭✭Nonoperational

    Maybe if you looked?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭Ryan T

Do you think i have not looked before I asked all these posters for their help:mad:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

    def not here?

    attachment.php?attachmentid=385&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1244759292

Not being funny or anything, just with an armrest fitted it would be hard to spot (if it was there!)

You asked is it on the front of the radio. It's not in a secret location. Check the usual obvious places if it's not there you don't have one.

    Thanks very much

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,478 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,401 ✭✭✭Nonoperational

Did you check in the boot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,235 ✭✭✭ceegee

is there a storage space under the passenger seat ? Have seen it there in some cars, dont know about the golf though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭Ryan T

No checked there. Am convinced its not there at all.

What do i do if its not in the car when its listed in the spec

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,689 ✭✭✭Vain

Hey it should be in one of the compartments near the handbrake, my bro has one it says aux in on it, from what i remember its in a draw you pull back and it also has a vw bottle opener in there?

EDIT: its only a small hole like a ear phone socket so maybe your not spotting it as you think its a dock for your ipod.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,507 ✭✭✭cml387

Sorry chaps, VW say it's in the front centre armrest.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 39,802 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

as above, i think the OP is looking for an actual ipod like connecting not knowing that its only an aux in not an actual ipod connection as such.

maybe he is just over looking it, it has to be there its standard item, unless the dealer just added on the visiable comfortline extras to basic SE if thats possible???

Looks the same as my bros mk6, only difference is the arm rest is up. It should still be in the same spot as yours, its only a aux in point for the ipod which is just a round hole that you get a aux cable to connect the ipod to the aux in hole.

EDIT: this is what your looking for http://media.photobucket.com/image/mk6%20golf%20aux%20in/99hjhm/Lupo%20GTi/DSC00148.jpg?o=1

Should be under your arm rest.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,487 ✭✭✭alexmcred

How is it different its the same console they have in the mk5 and they always put ipod connectors in there. Do you have arm rest etc?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭Ryan T

Yes I have the armrest but under the armrest is not the same as that photo. Mine has one pocket under the rest and not 2 as the one in the photo has

Yes and its in the pocket, well at least it should be, your only looking for a small hole not a dock.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,487 ✭✭✭alexmcred

Time to call the sales person you were dealing with me thinks. Sounds like someone screwed up here. Op may be best to throw up a pic of your armrest

    Will do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,401 ✭✭✭Nonoperational

If there is not one i'd imagine it'd be easy to add one. Get them to do it for free. No I'm not jealous I was only messing with ya...!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,689 ✭✭✭Vain

Just asked my bro and he said its in the pull back compartment with the vw bottle opener near the handbrake, his is a 09 tdi highline tho so maybe your spec is base and doesnt have it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭Ryan T

Its a comfortline- and its listed as standard equipment- I will get back on later after I contact the dealer

Father has the same car but it's in the centre arm rest!
Hard to see because it's placed on the front wall of the compartment and difficult to get an aux lead into it because it can't be seen clearly from the drivers seat.

OP it should be in the centre arm rest, your looking for a socket the same as a headphone one.

TBH i thought it was an optional extra around 70yoyos?
You sure you are not looking at an english spec sheet?
