Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mother needs advice as to the best budget car under the scrappage scheme.

    Must be 5 door
    Diesel or petrol
    Japanese/Korean
Reliable and cheap to run are main priorities
A bit of style would be nice
    Comfortable as possible

Can won't be doing huge mileages.

    Any thoughts?

A car made in Japan or one built somewhere else by a Japanese car manufacturer?

Hyundai i20 would be my choice (think it's 9.5 with scrappage)

Suzuki Swift. Now available with the 1.3 Fiat multi-jet diesel engine:

If you cannot stretch the budget to it then the petrol is also available well within budget. Still think the Swift is a funky looking little car.
