    Hi,

I just moved into a new apartment and the previous tenant left their NTL modem here. The interesting thing is that its still active?! Am I allowed to use it? Am I liable? o_O Should I contact NTL? Is it even my responsibility?

    Any feedback would help :)

Go ahead and use it then go ahead and pay the bill when it arrives.

Just joking you should tell UPC for all you know that connection could have been used to download kiddy porn or something best to let UPC know and it you want the service get the account changed into your name.

If you don't want the broadband best to tell UPC for the above reasons.

The previous tenant could of course have left an unpaid bill and if you use it they will be able to tell the time and date that you did thus putting yourself in a possibly awkward situation.

Honesty is always the best policy.

Yup, I have a tendency to agree. Nevermind the fact that I already have a contract with another ISP. Although one thing I have done is notified the letting agents. It is possible this place comes with the internet. Anyway, thanks for the advice :)
