Haven't seen a thread for this.

Anyway feeling pessimistic!! I think Stoke will win this two nil. We could be playing anybody today and i wouldn't hold out much hope.

Hopefully, Rodriquez plays and brings a new energy to them. We're going stale so maybe he can freshen things up.

Also heard that Reina was a slight doubt with a back injury. That's why he missed the Reading match, apparently!!

There's an hour and fifteen minutes to go and i'm disgusted that Rosco hasn't provided us with his ITK teamsheet!!!

There was some info this morning but the person who passed it on doesn't think it was reliable. Hence why I hadn't posted it. He said it's also been posted on YNWA.

    But fwiw :

    ...........................Reina.........................
    Carragher....The Greek.....Skrtel........Agger
    Maxi.........Mascherano....Lucas........Aurelio
    ...........................Aquilani......................
    ......................Kuyt...............

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,435 ✭✭✭ilovelamp2000

There's definitely nothing sure about it. This lineup has also been mentioned, 3-5-2:

    Reina
    Degen
    Carra
    Skrtel
    Greek
    Insua
    Masch
    Lucas
    Aurelio
    Kuyt
    Aqua

Really can't see how the pool will get anything today tbh.

i'd be both shocked and disgusted if N'Gog does not start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,629 ✭✭✭magma69

I'd reckon we might scrape a draw if we are lucky. Definitely not coming away with the three points. Hopefully Masch and Lucas can dominate midfield and relieve the pressure from that horrible looking back line.

NGog really has to start. Can't see why you'd play Kuyt, unless it was as a second striker.

I reckon Liverpool will win this. Stoke's last six games at 4 losses, a draw and a win. Although their last game was a win, they've been on a torrid run of form.

    I know how you feel.

I probably shouldn't admit this but I backed Stoke at 4/1 yesterday to win this game. It'll soften the blow if it does happen.

    So do I.

I don't like either of the rumoured lineups. Won't be long til a confirmed lineup is available.

I like that. Maxi and Riera.

Good man Rafa, you have mixed it up a bit. Hope it pays off.

Am worried for Liverpool today, Stoke is a tough enough place to be going without being in terrible form and decimated by injury.

Babel out of the squad means he is surely on his way now.

    Edit:

Having seen the line-up a lot is being asked of Ngog today, hope he can get something from this game for Liverpool

My money is on Stoke 16/5 and Stoke-1 10/1 so it will be no other then a Liverpool win.

The Reds XI in full is: Reina, Carragher, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Insua, Lucas, Mascherano, Degen, Aurelio, Kuyt, Ngog. Subs: Cavalieri, Pacheco, Darby, Spearing, Riera, Rodriguez, Aquilani.

No sir, I don't like it.

With 3 CB's and 3 FB's not sure of formation at all...

    Carra-Skrtel-Kyrgiakos
    Degen----Masch--Aurelio---Insua
    Lucas
    Kuyt---Ngog

    ?

    edit got my answer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

Wtf Rafa?? Leaving Aqua, Maxi & Riera on the bench. Jebus H Crisp. I give up, i really do.

Let me get this right. We have 6 defenders, 2 defensive midfielders and Kuyt and Ngog.

    This is a joke right?

I'm starting to think Rafa actually wants to get fired.

I've had had Maxi and Riera on the team. Even maybe Pacheco for Riera.

Just something fcuking different Rafa, we have fcuk all to lose at the moment.

    /goes outside to calm down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,810 ✭✭✭Mr Velo

Told yiz... That's the official lineup... Rafa has obviously lost it. Fingers crossed we'll get something from the game, but not much creativity in that lineup.

Phil Thompson says Aqua is not good enough to play for Liverpool.

13/5 on PP at the moment.

If we dot get a comfortable win, Rafa will be slated for this.

Looking at its merits, Degen is more effective as a winger then a full back anyway. Looks like we might be seeing a 2 up top, which is something we really should be trying with Torres out, and Kuyt and Ngog offer a nice potential partnership. Riera and Maxi were only ever really gonna be subs with one having just moved having not played in a good while and the other just back from an injury he keeps breaking down from.

At least we do have a strong bench to change things up anyway, having people like Riera, Maxi, Pacheco and Aqui to call on is a nice change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

It could still be a 4-4-2, with Degan and Aureilo on the wings. Rafa is just so terrified of losing.

I'm not sure what will happen now, really have no idea how this team will perform.

It is the Way Of Benitez: when you are under pressure, and have f*cked everything up, and the next game could get you sacked, you win

    And prolong the misery.

It's one of the worst starting lineups I've ever seen at LFC.

    Aquilani needs a beard.

I'd be tempted to predict a Liverpool defeat here looking at that line up and given the week that has been in it. But a quick look at Stoke's recent form especially the last 6 games makes this a really hard one to call.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,288 ✭✭✭✭ntlbell

Looks like it's just stop the rot time, under no circumstances lose.

    It's all getting slightly embarrasing.

I think looking at the teams it looks a nailed on draw tbh.

    Stoke score very few goals.

I'd imagine Rafa's plan is to get to halftime 0-0, then in the 2nd half throw on Maxi and Riera to try and win the game.

A stoke goal early will destroy this plan as there's little creativity in our team.

Any idea how many goals pool conceaded this year from set peices?

    I'll go 1-0 stoke

No idea. I presume its the reason The Greek fella is included, he might be good for nothing else but he's decent enough in the air.
