Looking to volunteer for a week but put off by fundraising

I am interested in doing a week's volunteer work in a developing country this year.I've come across one or two organisations that let you do this but you've to fund raise several grand which is a little off putting. I've no problem paying for myself but I didin't think it'd be so expensive. So am I being unrealistic to…
