Happy days. Well with the massive Sky EPG rejig on February 1st, I'd assume Sky are slotting them in somewhere :)

    Thanks for the update

Once they get someone decent to air the PPVs I'll be happy. Not some crappy uninterested channel like before. If there really are no WWE restrictions, it should be stuck on Sky Sports 4.

TNA WRESTLING will be broadcast on Freeview from February, thanks to a deal the company has signed with Sky TV channel Challenge.
Challenge TV will broadcast TNA's flagship show Impact every week, as well as round-up programme Xplosion and huge monthly PPV events such as Lockdown and Bound For Glory.

It marks the return of grappling to free television in Britain, sure to invoke memories of the glories days of British wrestling on ITV's World of Sport.

TNA president Dixie Carter said: "So happy to announce that all TNA programming in the UK will be on Challenge TV from February on Sky, Virgin and now Freeview too!"

TNA, which used to be shown on Bravo, is the home of wrestling legends including Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy.

A spokesman for Sky — the satellite operator 39.1 per cent owned by News Corporation, parent company of The Sun — added: "We'll be showing all the episodes fans have missed.

"We'll announce exact timings soon but the monthly TNA PPV show will be shown as a recorded show as it was on Bravo. We plan to show these on a Wednesday night when they happen, in addition to the weekly Impact/Xplosion shows."

Cool news. Do we have Freeview/Challenge TV?

    From TNA Wrestling UK's facebook

    TNA Wrestling UK
Some more key facts on TNA’s move to Challenge TV:

    - PPV events will be shown on the Wednesday after US broadcast.

    - “TNA iMPACT!” will air every Tuesday at 10pm, following US transmission.
    ...
    - Full dates and details to be announced shortly.

Only 2/3 day wait for PPVs is great news. 5 day wait for Impact is a bit annoying, but Tuesday night is fine. Sounds like TNA got a great deal and a great spot here :)

Okay so it's my understanding that in the UK, Challenge airs on Sky, Virgin and Freeview from February 1st which is great because it exposes TNA to a bigger audience. However what about Ireland? Challenge airs on Sky alright as I have it but I don't think it airs on UPC or Freeview here? Anyone know if Freeview in Ireland will also get Challenge come Feb?

Overall though, I think it's a good deal given the circumstances and the timeslot aint' too bad either.

Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling has announced a new television deal with Sky channel Challenge TV to broadcast TNA programming on Freeview from February.

Challenge TV – which is also available on the Sky and Virgin Media platforms – will screen flagship show “TNA iMPACT”, “TNA Xplosion” and all the monthly TNA pay-per-view events including “Lockdown” and “Bound For Glory”.

Wrestling fans can watch stars including Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle and TNA World Champion Mr. Anderson every week on Challenge, which can be found on Freeview Channel 46 from February 1, Sky Channel 125 and Virgin Media Channel 139.

“TNA iMPACT” will air on the Tuesday night following US transmission at 10pm, with PPV events showing on the Wednesday after US broadcast. Challenge TV will also show catch-up episodes of “TNA iMPACT!” for those who missed them during TNA’s brief period off air. Full dates and details will be announced shortly.

TNA President Dixie Carter said: “We are delighted to have signed this deal giving all our incredible fans in the UK exactly what they’ve been asking for – professional wrestling back on free television.”

Barbara Gibbon, Challenge’s Head of Channel, added: “We’re thrilled to have agreed a deal to make Challenge the new home of TNA Wrestling in the UK where it has a huge fan base.”

The announcement of this new broadcasting agreements arrives as the “TNA Maximum iMPACT! 2011” Tour invades the United Kingdom.
Maybe they might see how well Impact does first and could then change the day if they start to get good ratings.

They could've pushed for mondays. Then that coupled with raw would've made for some cool watching.

I hope they do a repeat on Fridays or Saturdays, my nephew loved TNA on a Saturday evening.

they should have gone for Thursdays, even if it meant being a week behind
being on freeview would mean they could take on Smackdown, and probably win

Completely disagree. Needlessly competing against Smackdown just risks losing viewers and realistically having more viewers in the UK means nothing.

Also, delaying broadcast for an extra two days would be frustrating as they should be aiming to get the broadcast out as soon as they can.

It appears as though Ric Flair has left TNA's tour of the United Kingdom.

The word is that Flair wanted a financial advance which was rejected by tour manager Craig Jenkins. As a result, Flair felt disrespected and decided to leave, not boarding the bus to leave Ireland for Germany.

More on TNA's New UK Programming Home
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 01.25.2011

Some good news for the company…

    - TNA's new programming home in the UK, Challenge TV, will in fact place the company's shows in more UK markets then WWE. The channel is part of the lowest subscription packages for Sky, Virgin Media and BT. Sky Sports, WWE's programming home, is an exclusive package that is expensive on Sky and even more expensive on rival services. Digital TV penetration in the UK is about 34%, compared to just 37% for Sky.

Reports are also stating that Challenge TV is trying to create a block of programming aimed at young male viewers, and that TNA will be part of that effort.

Whoops, Sky said they still use a hexaganol ring.... sack the researchers.

Jeff Randall really gave off mid-90's views of "its scripted, its not really a sport" blah blah.

She came off extremely well, promoting her talent as educated people and a well run organistion and that the talent is very capable.

    Best line;

Randall: Do you know the Glazers?
Dixie: Well, we have a plane in the same hangar...

Brilliant. She came off very well.
