Remember that free paper the Slate that used to be around Dublin ?

There was seom funny stuff in it and the music reviews were top notch.

Has anyone scanned old copies of it onto a website anywhere ?, I'd love to read them again.
Had a load saved but someone threw them out !

I think there are some scanned issues somewhere. I may have even seen them on boards if you want to search?

Very funny publication in its day.

Tower Records had a published volume with the best bits of The Slate, I bought it there but it was a long time ago, a couple of years. Someone must have it somewhere though!

They came up with a cruel name for a lad that we used to know - a DJ about town type - that we still use to describe him to this day. :D

I remember it. Only picked it up a few times. I think there was a little comic sketch called "Kick The Cat" which was quite funny.

That's a pity. It would have brightened up your existence somewhat.

I saw one of these "Slate" newsletters on a kitchen table at a party years ago. I flicked through it and aside from some unusual editorials, there were pictures of drunk people from nightclubs and the such. There was one particular picture of two girls, bent over exposing their genitals sans underwear. A classy publication no doubt. Better than our tabloids anyway.

A bona fide classic, they didn't give a sh1t! The "Blacks in the Jacks" issue was their most famous one; I'd say it was one of their last, too. It was going till about 2003, I'd say. Never missed an issue after I moved to Dublin 2001. I wonder where they all are now...

    I do :D

I found it over Xmas when cleaning up my old room. It's now in a box in Dublin waiting to be shipped to London. When I get it I'll try and scan some of it.

Slate was one of the funniest mags ever. I only got my hands on about 6 issues of it and I remember laughing myself silly at the rants in it.

Absolutley brilliant magazine, sorely missed. The editors tried to get a website going last year called My Little Piebald. Never took off though. Some of the back editions of the website can still be seen online.

    Edit: just seen Tony's post.

    I loved the Slate, so un-pc :D

Have nearly all the issues and the The Best Bits compilation copy.

I remember going around town trying to find them - they seemed to disappear so fast.

Q - are the guys who wrote the Slate the same guys who write this?
