Hi, Just thought it might be interesting to post lists of favourite places to visit / things to do for free here in Dublin. Even in winter time, there are loads of places to visit that cheer you up :)

Heres a few of mine -

    The Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin
    Herbert Park -
The National Museum on Kildare Street & The museum at Collins Barracks on the quays
    Stephens Green
    Iveagh Gardens
The Musuem of Modern Art in Kilmainham
The department stores on Henry Street and O'Connell Street
    Walking down Dun Laoghaire Pier
The Chester Beaty Library and Museum and the Gardens in Dublin Castle
The Gallery of Photography and the National Photography archive exhibition in Temple Bar
    Phoenix Park
Walking along the banks of the Grand Canal around Baggot Street
    Merrion Square Park
    Marley Park
The National Gallery on Merrion Row
browsing the books in bookshops in Dawson Street

So do you have any other favourite places for free ?

Walking up in howth on a sunday morning....I do a walk in up howth from the station to deer park, deer park to the rhododendrons (stunning views of the whole of dublin)then to the ben of howth then to the summit and from there along the cliffs back to the village (takes about 2 and a half hours)....there's also a farmers market on a sunday in the village...nice for a coffee after the walk.
    Practically free bar the coffee

I love walking along the sea front in Bray, feeding the ducks in Stephens Green or talking a stroll through Trinity College. It's not free but I love to rent a bike and cycle around Phoenix Park looking for deers.

The National History Museum is well worth a look.

Dun Laoghaire pier is one of my favourite places in Dublin. I love going there to get away from things. I've written loads of songs and stuff there, sat there for ages and read a book and had a cup of coffee and just sit and watch the world go by. Very relaxing.

We should extend this to other cities in Ireland and abroad. If you're even going on holiday somewhere it's always nice to know cool free things to do, especially for city breaks.

I could definitely list some in Wellington. Any one got any from other cities?
