Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    BOLTON%20LOGO.jpg-V- 517_arsenal_logo.jpg

These two teams line up against each other for the first time today and will play again on Wednesday.

With the the way results went for United and Chelsea yesterday this is a must win game for Arsenal.

This is Owen Coyle's first game in charge at Bolton also so he'll be wanting to make an impression.

Arsenal are without Song, Denilson, Walcott and Ramsey.

There is also rumours that Nasri picked up an muscular injury and is on doubt.
Fabregas has declared himself fit but nit will be interesting to see if he starts.
Gael Clichy also returns for Arsenal and Nicklas Bendtner may make the bench for the first time since October.

    Possible Arsenal line-up:

    Almunia

    Sagna
    Gallas
    Vermaelen
    Traore

    Diaby
    Eastmond----Fab

    Rosicky
    Arshavin
    Eduardo

Clichy could quite likely start at LB ahead of Traore.

Also the middle three is a a problem, who will play DM? Diaby/Eastmond? If it's Diaby I'd imagine Rosicky will drop into midfield and Vela will start.

    Come on the Gunners.

I would think that if Nasri is indeed out, we would be more likely to see this line up

    Almunia

    Sagna
    Gallas
    Vermaelen
    Traore

    Rosicky
    Diaby----Fab

    Vela
    Arshavin
    Eduardo

I can't really see him risking any of the youngsters, even if they are more suited to filling Songs place.

Surely it'll be Diaby at defensive midfield and Vela as part of the front 3. The Reebok isn't a great place to hand a first start to somebody like Eastmond.

    Bolton 1-2 Arsenal

Personally, I hope Bolton get tanked though, I'd love to see it all go wrong for Coyle.

    eastmond starting would be startling.

it has to be diaby with vela in the front 3, surely.

c'mon arsenal, stick it to coyle ;)

As said in some of the rags, 4-4-2 may be on the cards today.

    Almunia
    Sagna
    Gallas
    Vermaelen
    Traore
    Cesc
    Diaby
    Rosicky
    Vela
    Arshavin
    Eduardo

Something like the above may on the cards today, might make it easier to Break down a physical team like Bolton although I think it would ask too much of Cesc too soon.

I think it would ask too much of Cesc too soon.

This, the last thing we need is to have him injured again, especially with the run we have coming up.

Good stuff, hopefully we can get back to winning ways today now

Think it's a better option to play eastmond in songs position. will be interesd to see how he gets on. have had quite a few of the youngsters come into the team and do very well so far this season so hopefully he can follow the trend.

Traore has generally played well -although he was aful last week, but that was really the only game he has worried me in. Manonne did well enough when he was given a run, ramsey has been excellent at times. they are not to be counted on long term just yet but so far as short term solutions the young guns have have aquited themselves well.

They are targetting Traore on Arsenal's left as a weakness - he's already been caught out badly twice.

Arsenal are already falling behind. Need to step it up.

    Traore needs to shape up.

Typical New Manager Syndrome for Bolton.

Won't be surprised if they win this.

bench not the strongest but i would like to see emmanuel thomas given a run if things are going well --ie. we are 4 goals up towards the end... :)

    Arsenal settling now. Phew!

As a Liverpool fan who has given up on the title, I'd be happy to see Arsenal give it a real go this season...

Eduardo just half a step too slow there, unlucky.

How was that not a pen :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

May have been a peno, would have been soft though.

Traore should have played Fab in first time instead of going down the line to Eduardo.

To be fair it looked like he got the ball untill i saw the replay

Traore is having a 'mare. Is Clichy on the bench?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    you have my sympathies.

we had a Traoré once too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Traore is having a 'mare. Is Clichy on the bench?

Yeah, I would have liked for him to be able to have the day off and recover a little more but I think we may see him on at HT given Traore's performance so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,337 ✭✭✭✭monkey9

I just think that if you're called Traore, you're automatically sh!te. This one is no execption!!

That phase of play highlighted nearly all our problems in 5 seconds, Rosicky gets pushed off the ball far too easy, Traore gets himself into trouble out of nothing and Almunia well pulled an Almunia!!

We're just so lightweight when you take Song out of the team.

That should have been a yellow for Eastmond.

Great little ball back by Eduardo

Great move and finish. But what was the Bolton defender doing in the buildup when the ball just hit his head without him knowing. Welcome back Fabregas!!
