Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Some chappie on the "other" radio forum said this:
Suprised no one has said anything on here yet about a certain rumour.

A successful local radio breakfast show to go to a national station in the next couple months, is how the rumour goes.

I dont want to say who/what station because its just a rumour. Just wondering has anyone else heard this?

    Has anyone here heard this?

My guess (Hope) is it's KC & Lenny off of Red Fm Cork.

Please not Strawberry - wouldn't know what funny was if it smacked them over the head with a Billy Connoly dvd - Alarmclock!!!

So which national station is changing breakfast host? There are only 2 - 2day fm and its clone 2fm. Or does 4fm count as national?

98 crew (minus the chick) would be a good bet. They won show of the year last year and have had quite a few youtube hits this year...

    I dont see why not...

But where would they go? I can't see Today or 2FM changing their shows - though I could see change at 2FM happening before Today given that there is a new PD at 2FM. A regional brekkie crew would be too young in style for 4FM. Newstalk calls for a certain type of pesenter who is likely to be hand picked as an individual. Most "succesful local breakfast shows" are successful because they are local. They may not make the transition to national radio.

Well normally when a breakfast team quits they are escorted off the premises in dramatic fashion so no doubt we'll hear about it soon!

there's a rule saying you can't discuss the running of radiowaves, but nothing to say you can't quote them

(yes, I'm back - like I could quit you guys :p)

    One person going, not two.

They won't have the same show either ie. going to different daypart.

Must be 2FM. They havent had a schedule reshuffle in 2 weeks now, so they are overdue

Now that would be class, we can live in hope but I fear they are a bit too modern to fit in with the new 2fm....This is the home of Gogan, Fanning, and G.Ryan and friends after all.

    Although...

    How true:D

Doubt it as they havn't really done anything spectacular in their TSA. I think it's a certain Meteor award nominee from down south we should all be looking at and very well deserved if it is true :)

At the moment, the rumour seems to be that KC (not sure about Lenny) is going to the 10pm slot on Today FM.

    sorry whats a TSA?

Total Survey Area, so its the area that they broadcast to which is included in the JNLR.

Yep KC confirmed he's moving from Red Fm to Today Fm.

    Lenny's not going with him.

I for one am happy for him. He's one of my favorite deeeejays and can't wait to be able to hear him in Dublin in March.

Is he taking up Alison Curtis' slot? Will he be doing his funny schtick or just a "That was this is" dj? Will he have a co presenter? The Blast with KC?

    The mind boggles.

  • Registered Users Posts: 69 ✭✭subtle_as

From the interview with Foley, it seems KC will be taking over the 10pm slot. That's the show they seemed to be alluding to. I'd say he'll do a "The Blast with Ray Foley" type show. Fair play to him. He's very good on Red FM and deserves to go national.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,647 ✭✭✭✭Fago!

I wonder will he be on his own?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,647 ✭✭✭✭Fago!

    I asked him.

me @KCREDFM Man congrats on Today FM. FINALLY!!!! Us Dubs can listen to ya. Are you gonna be doing the same type of show? Co-presenter?

KCREDFM @me solo music driven messing and guest format at first , then we can add and shape it :)

i got all excited thinking it was the guy who does the Tipp FM breakfast show - arron birchill. he always ends every sentence on an uplift? like he is asking a question? and his playlist ended in 1986*. i would love the entire nation to hear the cagney and lacy theme every morning, and the round of applause jingle he plays every time he talks.

you would then really really appreciate what you have on national breakfast time radio....

(*that's a bit unfair actually, its a year ahead of the rest of the Tipp FM playlist afterall)
