    Saints
Saints really need a lesson in how to properly recover fumbles. Far to many times they'd gone for the glory and tried to pick it up instead of just jumping on it.
In fairness the biggest fcuk up off the night, was the waste Minnesota made of their turnover.

Tit for tat all night. Will Favre last overtime if he has to?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭cruiserweight

Another turnover, Saint defence winning them the game

Saints' defence or Vikings' offense unable to hold onto the ball?

Good play by the Saints D, getting to Favre as often as possible without it being dirty (most of the time - and would it be considered dirty if the quarterback wasn't 40?) and also getting turnovers out of as many plays as possible.

But seriously six fumbles in a Championship game is rough.

None of what the Saints D is doing is Dirty and I worship the ground Brett Favre walks on. They are well within their rights to hit Favre they way they have been doing it.

What a waste of a challenge there by Payton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,646 ✭✭✭cooker3

Vikings should be out of it by now.
Saints may regret not taking their chances.

I agree. As much as I love Favre this is football, it's part of the game. If Sanchez was taking these hits we'd all be smirking, saying 'welcome to the NFL rookie'.
Fair play to the Saints D, doing what they have to do to win the game.

    Russian Roulette with a gun
I promise to donate €20.00 Euro to UNICEF for Haiti. Because I'm enjoying the game.

I promise more Irish Euro, if the game gets gooder. I know others will contribute.

    Farve:

    Hurried 41 Times

    Sacked 0 Times

Hit 16 Times...that is a lot for anybody, 40year old or rookie...not to mention that doesnt include the 'block' he took on the end around to Harvin

How long is extra-time if its required ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,646 ✭✭✭cooker3

**** me. I almost feel like putting on my old Favre packers jersey out of respect. How does he do it.

A Full Quarter or the First scorer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,142 ✭✭✭Karlusss

Being hit 16 times is on the O-line, not on the Saints. Also, if you run an end-around in the pros and your quarterback does anything other than run fast in the opposite direction, it's open season.

A Full Quarter or the First scorer.

So its similar to the old Golden goal rule ?

I guess what I'm saying is if I was a Saints fan i wouldn't be complaining.
I'd want my team to win, even if it means Deanna is shopping for a wheelchair tomorrow.

It goes on until someone scores no matter how many quarters it takes.

What happens, post-season, after a full quarter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Yup

    How is that fair ?

What I mean is surely the team that starts with the ball has an advantage no ?

Nope only 1 extra Quarter is played. Draws can happen in the NFL.

    What happens then? Penalties? :D

It's sudden-death overtime. First to score wins. It takes as long as it takes...

It isn't fair. It is one of the very few anomalys in this otherwise excellent sport.

Has it ever got to double overtime in the playoffs?

You're not the first person to notice that... I think the argument is that offense, defense or special teams can all win a game. A few weeks ago the Packers got the ball first against the Cardinals, the Cards forced a fumble and scored.

Also if you keep giving the other team a chance to score again, it could go on forever.

No way man, Defenses win Championships ;):D

Can't believe Vikings might actually win this. With the first Field goal of the game

Ok I can understand that but surely the odds are stacked in your favour if you start with the ball. Seems like one team is immediately at a disadvantage though if you look at it logically.

Yep. Even the officials who decide these things know that, and they're thinking about it. But that's how it is right now.

To be honest with you it is the debate of all ages when it comes to Football. There is no right or wrong answer in this debate and always two sides. But to be hones with you this isn't the right thread for the debate :D

Porter should have made that tackle, keeps the drive alive for Minnesota

Colts went out of the playoffs last year, that way. Absolutely murderously frustrating.
But look at it this way: how many times does the average drive lead to a score? i'd say not much more than half, so in that regard, it's not entirely unfair.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,341 ✭✭✭✭Chucky the tree

    Ouch, Porter just blew it.

Berrian has been very good tonight (apart from the fumble!). Overshadowed by Rice all season but he has been vital tonight.

Saints can't feel too hard done by, if they lose. They were given every chance to win this.

ouch! disaster, what a feck up. 12th man in huddle. puts it just out of reasonable range.

edit - forces the pass, then the mistake, interception!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,142 ✭✭✭Karlusss

One play left, who do you want in your huddle giving the pep talk. Saints need to come hard here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭cruiserweight

5 yard penalty, makes it a longer kick, Minnesota need to make some back here

    Edit: Farve pick
