Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This Wednesday (Jan 20) there is a handicap blitz tournament in St Benildus College, Stillorgan. The idea of this event is you can play against players of all standards, if you are playing someone much better than you you will get 8 minutes against their 2 minutes. A more traditional weekender, 6 games over 2.5 days, in Gonzaga College, Ranelagh on Jan 29-31. Contact Cormac O'Brien gonzagaclassic@gmail.com, website http://www.gonzagaclassic.tk/ (not fully updated)

Another weekender, traditionally one of the major Irish chess events of the year, the Bunratty festival on Feb 19-21. Contact Paul Carey 087 6820105 www.bunrattychess.com.

Full details of upcoming tournaments are on the Irish Chess Union website. Players of all levels are always welcome at all these tournaments, so there's never a bad time to play your first one.
