Bad front 9, that's becoming a habit. Driving wasn't as good as usual and so lost a couple of balls, other than that didn't play too badly. Back 9 my chipping and putting was excellent and I kept the ball in play which helps.

had an nightmare of a front 9 only had 11pts.driving was horrendous irons were muck.chipped in for par and and holed a putt from off the green for bogey only for that wud have struggled to get to 10 points.

had 20 points on the back 9 which included 5 pars :)

I have the driving equivalent of 'the yips' - haven't broke 90 for the last month and the rest of my game is as good as it's ever been - I can't break 90 due to multiple knock downs & snap hooks on the front 9 off the tee. I'nm going OOB, under trees, into gorse, into the jungle on too many holes and I'm recovering as well as anyone could but it's just too hard when you can't get the ball away.

I refuse to give up and put the driver away because I know I am a decent driver of the ball normally, as the back 9 proves, but my head is just shot with it at the moment.

My usual form is snap hooking 4 or 5 on the front 9 and then by the time I'm coming home on the back 9, I'm booming it 250+ and hitting fairways. Probably because I've stopped caring. I just can't replicate the frame of mind/confidence over the ball I have off the tee on the back 9 for the first few holes no matter how hard I try. I've tried wellying it off the 1st tee, trying to tickle one down nice and easy and just tried forgetting everything and swinging easy but nothing is working.

The 1st couple of rounds I just shrugged it off but now it's starting to bother me.

Time to move to a hybrid off the tee or stick at it? I know already I'm gonna stick at it.

Played better than I scored, my drives were all quite long and all but two hit the fairway. The twice I ended in thick rough, I was too greedy and tried to get too much distance from it instead of just making sure I got back on the fairway (took five shots out of the rough on the 8th). My putting was good but my chipping really let me down.

Another frustrating day, hitting fairways and not following up with second shots, really getting me down, the 3 fairways I did miss were just off and not in any trouble. Far too many bogeys on my card and not enough pars as I am just leaving myself far too much to do around the greens. On the up side of it played with a new putter today and liked it a lot. Just gotta get my irons sorted and by that I mean 7 - pw , struggling on par 3's also and I know this is holding me back from getting cut at least 2-3 shots. Driving and putting is as strong as any single figure golfer !! Very annoying.

    37 points at Donabate yesterday.

Played the wrong ball at the 16th after lecturing one of the others about always checking your ball. I hit good drive, walked up the semi-rough, found my ball and hit a 6 iron onto the green. Then walked 10 yards further on and found my real ball.......two penalty shots.

A frustrating round, 2 scratches on first 4 holes but was then 1 over for the rest of the front 9. 3 putted the par 5 5th (index 17)when on the green in 2!! Recovered well enough to turn level 2's.
Started the back 9 by scuffing a 5 wood staight into water off the tee but pared my second ball to get a point. Lost a ball in rough on the 15th, had to go back tee off again and bogied 2nd ball leaving a par putt an inch short of the cup to scratch the hole. Left four or five puts an inch short of the cup in total, playing partners said the ball seems to jump just after contact when putting.

Game is coming together a bit now but still have to iron out mistakes from lack of concentration and get the putting sorted.

Went out Saturday morning full of confidence.... it didn't last long. Drives and long irons all had a slice.... not sure where it came from but I lost more golf balls than I've done in a while. I was also just running bad... every bounce seemed to go the wrong way.

Thankfully, my wedge and putter kept me in the game for a while but eventually I was out of reach. Especially when you consider a 61 won the comp.

It's time to get some lessons again.

Played Loughrea open day yesterday. I played so bad on the front nine that I nearly walked off the course. I only had 5 points leaving the seventh green (Scratched 4 holes). I scored 25 points after that, 21 points on the back nine.

I'm a 20 h/c and started playing golf for the first time in January last year. That's the best scored I've posted in an open day to date and I know I can play a whole lot better. That mightn’t impress some people but it's given me a lot of encouragement. Even a bad round can but turned around….. a small bit.

Impresses me nothing worse than guys who give up or quit easily,
    thats the spirit,keep it up.

even when you think your playing ok and hitting the ball reasonably well you'll have an off day no matter who you are or how long your playing

but don't give up set yourself a new target if you start badly, like not getting a .1 back or something, you'll be surprised it'll keep you better focused and help you improve......hopefully

Played in an open in Bellewstown yday,

Had 35 points off 15, Played very well tee to green, but had 41 putts.

including a four putt for bogey on the 1st, and three 3 putts. Gutted that it would have been 40 points, had I 2 putted those 4 greens.

Happy to post a decent score but really need to do some serious work on my putting!
