I want to replace the outside Pull Plate with a Handle which I can push up to engage the multi locking system for added security when leaving the house unattended. I did have someone look at my door last year and said there was no problem. The only drawback is that I would have to lock the door on the inside everytime or…

Would this be a simple enuf diy job as I'm pretty handy....would I just need a suitable handle, longer spindle and bob's me uncle

Or indeed is there a better way (not too expensive) of increasing the security of the door. Any ideas or advice much appreciated.
