Highlights in Dublin City- plus advice about layers?

Having got 'blah' highlights in Peter Mark a few times I figure it's time to branch out and be brave and go somewhere else for blonde highlights.. (I'm afraid though.. I'm afeared of hairdressers.)(fine with dentists, though. :D)
Any recommendations for places good with colour would be appreciated. :)

Also, I have very long hair basically tied up in different styles/ways most of the time. It's just long straight hair with a fringe. However when it's tied up, I feel it's quite severe- just this straight fringe is all you see, plus whatever frizzy/wispy bits have worked their way into the equation.
Would getting some short(ish) layers at the front soften the style up a bit ('frame the face' if you will)? I'm worried about going down that road because I'm scared of getting my hair CUT (eek), I still want to be able to get it out of my face if it's bugging me and I don't want that Elliott from Scrubs 'disheveled' look.. face layers can go a bit awry I feel.

Thanks for listening to my demented ramblings, any suggestions appreciated. :)

I found some images here of ponytails with fringes. Some of them are a few years old but I think they still look nice.

    Kate Moss:

Quite a blunt fringe but kind of longer at the sides, reaching to about the end of her ears. I think it's nice and doesn't look too severe.

Her layers go past her chin, quite nice but I prefer Kate's.

    Molly Sims:

Side ponytail with what seems to be a long full fringe slightly swept to the side-very pretty.

Long Full Fringes that have just slightly longer layers at the sides seem to be most versatile,as you can wear them straight across or sweep them to the side to look softer.

    Cheers. :)
Any idea for highlights anyone? Any time I've gone to Peter Marks I've come out with the hair on top (like around the roots) being darker than the rest and stood outside the salon afterwards thinking 'why do I keep coming back here?' I think I'll have to go a bit darker overall though because it's much lighter at the ends than on top/underneath and I want to even it up now.
I was thinking Kris Marshall or Toni and Guy.. or there's a place around Grafton Street called 'Zoo'.. if anyone has any thoughts on those please let me know. ;)

Ive said it before on many hairdresser request threads-Its not city centre but hessions in drumcondra. I get Highlights with sharon-everyone in work always tells me my highlights are the nicest of everyones...Sharon gets the highlight right to the root and always gets great colours in. Justin cuts my hair-always listens 2 what i want and he's a perfectionist-So my hair is always amazing when i leave.
