Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hi all, not sure if i will find the answer im looking for here but its worth a shot.
I'm thinking of moving to Rathmines but i work in blackrock and i need to know how long it would take me to drive there and back.

Also how long would it approx take to get to blackrock if i left rathmines at 8am, 9am, 9.30am? If we're talking an hour to go 9 km, i think i may have to rethink the move. It states 13 mins on AA route planner!

    thanks

The planner doesn't account for congestion. Congestions in Ranelagh and Rathmines can be appalling in the morning rush hour unless you are using a radial route outbound or a bus lane inbound. You might have a look at this thread: http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055775430&highlight=blackrock Your best bet would be to find somewhere in Ranelagh (or Blackrock!), not Rathmines.

Public transport-wise, they aren't the best matched pair, the nearest things to direct buses being the 17 and 46E.

So it means getting to Mount Street Bridge and getting a 4/a, 5, 7/a/b, 8, 45 or the DART from Grand Canal Dock or an 18 (but note the first paragraph above) to Ballsbridge and then bus / DART

by bike - 7.2km, no more than 30 mins I'd imagine.

cheers guys, but would you know how long it would take me if i only have to start work at 10 am, so i would possibly avoid any heavy traffic? If i left at 9.20 would i avoid most of the ehavy traffic at that stage do you think?

I did it in reverse regularly a couple of years ago.

The 17 is a bit of a disaster. If you're taking public transport, your best bet is walk to Mount St bridge (2k from Portobello bridge) + bus. If it's Upper Rathmines, might be quicker to cut across thruogh Ranelagh to Ballsbridge (about 2.7k) and get a bus from there.

Driving, I've no idea, though I got a taxi from Ballsbridge a few times and traffic could be bad in the evening.
