Looks like Sheffield eagles could have a considerable irish representation this year. Great news for them both if it comes off.

Irish Rugby League internationals John Coleman and Tim Bergin have moved closer to earning a contract with Championship club Sheffield Eagles.
The pair put in a strong performance in playing all 80 minutes of a pre-season friendly against Doncaster, at the Keepmoat Stadium, on Sunday. The Eagles won 24-16 with Coleman kicking four conversions, two from out near the touchline.

Coach Mark Aston says he was impressed by the pair and admits they made a strong case for a contract with the club. Aston added: "The lads were outstanding, they had a great attitude and their work ethic was great. John Coleman kicked well - he's got a sweet left foot.
"They are players of potential but want to develop. I'll be talking more with them later in the week."

Both players were put under pressure by a lively Doncaster, who are rebuilding after relegation from the Championship last season, but stood up well. The wingers have spent two weeks training with Eagles. Coleman, 23, plays for the Dublin City Exiles and Tim Bergin, 24, for Laois Panthers.
Both made the switch from union to league about a year ago but have made a big impression in the Irish Elite League and played in last year's rugbyleague.com European Cup.

Meanwhile, Aston was pleased with form of half-back Aaron Groom and forwards Ged Cocroan and Dane McDonald on their return from injury in the Doncaster game. There was a debut for centre Jack Mossop (signed from Workington), back row forward Joe Hirst (Featherstone) and a debut for hooker Kyle Kesik who was promoted from the reserves.

The squad included six players who have come through the club development programme - Dan Hawksworth, Eddie Battye, Rhys Williams, Christian Jacobs, Corey Hanson and Dan Horsfield.
Aston said: "There were massive positives in that we had Aaron Groom, Ged Corcoran and Dane McDonald back from their injuries but the great thing was our young players."

Well you are of course forgetting Brian Carney.

Carl De Chenu was another I recall. Surely there were others(?)
