Im predicting a 2-2 draw tonight.

Any ideas on lineups as of yet?

Would like to see SAF playing a strong team compared to previous rounds whens he justifiably fielded more youth.

Game is live on BBC1 which is great.

    2nd string/weakend line up -v- 1st team isn't exactly a shift of power

City are home tonight so it should be City v Utd :)

I predict 2-1 to City and strong 11's from both teams.

City to win by a couple. Can't resist those 8/5 odds on Paddy Power for a home win.

1-1 in this one, 2-0 to them at OT.

Going 2-0 to City on this one. Not sure what kind of team that United will have out. Here's hoping to a cracker.

    Really?

The pessimist in me sees City getting to the final.

United are in poor form at the moment, our first 11 is defensing poorly and not doing great in general, and it won't be the first 11 out there tonight.

If it was our first 11 in both games, I reckon it would be close. As it will be (i think) a weakened 11, I can see City going though. 2-1 or 2-0 to them tonight and a draw at OT.

I'd say Fergie will pick the strongest defense (PiG will probably get a game though) he can and then put some of the younger players mixed with experience in front of them.

    I fear this one...

    5/6 a side football

    Really?

    Yup really. Zero faith.
The pessimist in me sees City getting to the final.

The City fan in me sees City not getting to the final.

The Tevez factor. Any idea when Viera will be making his debut?

Boldly predicting a comfortable win for United, put the blues back in their Trophyless box!

I'd go with something like this for the first leg (with the strongest possible 11 out in the return at Old Trafford):

    VDS
    Rafael, Brown, Evans, Evra
    Valencia, Fletch, Anderson, Nani,
    Rooney, Diouf

A lot of those players are 24 or under... Nani needs games, as does Diouf. 6 of our strongest 11 there, VDS, Brown (at RB), Evra Valencia, Fletch, Rooney would be in our strongest 11 as I see it.

If you swap out Fletcher, Valencia & Rooney for the likes of Gibson, Welbeck & Owen, as I fear he might, it'll be a long 90 mins.

Fergie will play a strong team - won't want to be out of it after tonight - result tonight will dicatate the Hull and 2nd leg teams

I'd love Owen and Berba to start, Owen to prove his worth to all the naysayers.

im nervously predicting 3-1 tonight, but it will depend on that back 4 for utd. but i cant see them being up to form, and some good attacking football should keep them routed to the spot.

But i cant see SAF putting out anytihng except his best available team! He needs them to start playing serious football to be in with their best chance for the PL and tonight seems to me to be a match that hell be wanting to get the best of his returning players.

Still, the City Opimist in me is saying we can do it, while the city fan in me knows it could just as easily be a return to "Typical City"

  • Registered Users Posts: 700 ✭✭✭Prufrock

United have been playing badly for a while now and it is a derby match with City which can only mean....United win:cool:

It is a derby match so form goes out the window.

I have no idea what kind of team Fergie will be putting out tonight. However I think they fact we have Hull this weekend could mean we see a strong team tonight, and he will look to rest people next week when the second leg is followed up by a trip to Arsenal.

    PIG
    Rafeal--Brown-Evans--Evra
    ----Gibson---Fletcher
    -Valencia
    Wellbeck
    ----Rooney----Berbatov---

If Berbatov is out then its a toss up between Owen and Diouf. Owen should probably get it but Fergie has said he doesn't like Owen and Rooney together and I think I read somewhere that he wants to have a look at Diouf before CL registration time.

Front four can cause city problems, the supporting six need a good performance to keep them out.

    I'll go for a 1-1 draw.

Ireland is meant to be back so i'd like to see him tonight,if even off the bench, push tevez up a bit more so he doesnt have to wander back for the ball, also a start for SWP would be awesome after coming off the bench on Sat,he can terrorise any United full back like he's been doing for years!

would like to see Diouf and Nani start. Rooney will start, Fergie taking him off on Saturday is testament to that. I'd say Gibson will start. Rafael will probably start too but I'd say Fergie will go for Evra over Fabio on the left. So many possible lineups

Looking forward to this one, City were far from impressive last weekend, should be a good game.

    AGH!

I doubt it's going to be the cracker we were hoping for with that team/shape.

EDIT: bit harsh there perhaps. Would have preferred to have seen two up front but this is a surprisingly strong team which is good.

Coverage on bbc is weird, those brits love their eastenders so to watch coverage we are going to have to watch it on interactive from half 7. Who cares about eastenders, football is more important
