08 Audi A4 oppinion

I've been keeping an eye out for a 08 A4 for a while, came across this one today in carzone

Looks lovely with the alloys and leather and all but I wouldn't have a billy ocean on how right the price is. I've been told by mates that Carzone prices are generally away with the fairies...if I go to view this car what should I expect to realisticaly offer if all is sound with it? Any help would be great. Thanks.:)

For a 08 diesel A4 I reckon you'd be mad not to travel over seas. Take this for example:

You'd pay probably €14,500 for it, and about €4,000 to VRT it (just checked it on ROS and accounted for leather). That's a damn fine car in the country for under 20k.

What I see is a UK import with retrofit alloys, a bit of a bodykit and possibly non-factory leather. Make sure you know exactly what it is.

Do all the relevant checks.

Looks like a very high spec though. Check the tax disk and make sure it actually is €156 road tax pa.

jaysus that's smashing, I could bang on a set of alloys like the Irish example above and still be well well under 27K......hmmmm I'll have to rub my chin on this one....cheers!

I don't think that's a fair comparison...One is a clean a4 with a good few extra options and the other is a crash repaired car.

I would really be only going for the new model ones, preferably under the new tax laws...would ye reckon I could get the Irish guy down much....the add isn't up too long by the look of it

That's a bit better but not the same spec,no leather,aftermarket phone kit no ipod connection etc....

This is true.

Actually looking at it, the OP could (at a stretch) get the original one he posted for close to €24k cash, which would be much better value than paying €21k ish for the one I posted.

I kinda had 24K in my head for a maximum budget...been looking on usedcarsni.com and his price looks to be fairly in line with what's up there...I'll take a spin over to have a look during the week as I'm in Kildare too where the car is and have a chat

Worth making an offer on it looks like a nice audi,I'm sure the selling has left some haggle room in the price,Just one thing to check I don't see any mention of a full service history in the add.

OP, Like AudiChris said I would check the car out first. Very high spec car and for the asking money I think it is a good deal considering there is only 38K kms on it.

Not too sure about the stated 156 euro road tax though. The ad claims its an SE which is 142 BHP and hence the next tax bracket. The 120bhp is 156euro. The leather seats look retro fitted also but maybe im wrong on that.

The 143 was 302 until mid-08 and then moved to 156. You need to double check it.

Ask the seller some pointed questions regarding whether it's imported, when it was imported, crash repairs, finance etc.
Do all the standard HPI checks.

Also, if you think you're going to be able to bargain them from €27k to €24, I'd be surprised if it succeeds.

I would imagine its a UK import, as apart from the high KE reg, the clocks are MPH.

Hi Chris - Sorry for hijacking but how does one double check this. My A4 is 143 and Im paying 302 euro road tax. It was first registered in October 08.

Look at the V5 or VLC - it'll say the CO2 emissions on that.

If you're paying 302, then you're in the 302 bracket - the car will have been declared to the revenue as the correct CO2 rating.

I dont like the ad on lip on the front bumper on that. Its just looks wrong. Leather on back seat looks odd too.

the leather does look a little puckered on the back seats, would be a nightmare to get the car and have outstanding finance....HPI check would cover this?
