Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shoddy Service Work Performed

    Hi,

Left my scooter in for a regular service yesterday. Left it off in the morning, picked it up in the evening when it was dark.

Looking at this morning in daylight for the first time since picking it up, a 2 inch crack has appeared in the bodywork. Also, when I picked it up, the lady who did the service work was joking that she had dropped it. Now I'm beginning to think she wasn't joking.

Also, I asked that they tighten both brake levers but only one was tightened, the other was as loose as it was prior to service.

Last thing, I live abroad so can't go quoting Irish law to them, unfortunately.

Anyone had any experience like this? I'm pretty sure there isn't much I can do. Guess I should've taken photos of the bike prior to it being serviced, but even then that might not have been enough. I've emailed them about it but I'm sure they'll deny causing the crack.

That's why you always check before you leave the garage.

Yeah, but it was pitch-dark and would've been very hard to spot. Also, as it was just a regular service I wasn't expecting to find anything untoward. If something had been overlooked, such as the brakes, then fair enough, that can be fixed again later. But I didn't think they'd be so careless to drop it / break it.

Class. Notice how I was subtly tip-toeing around that fact!
