Hmm which ipod touch... 9prices in Au$

My 2nd gen ipod was stolen. Replacing it for xmas.
    Decided on going with 32gig

New 4th gen from apple costs $378
    A refurbished 3rd gen costs $289

Is refurb worth it, is 4th gen so much better to be worth $89

    Hi,
Although these are not new apps. I would appreciate any option on which is the better app to buy. Eirtext pro or Jelly SMS

I tried the free versions but they have there limitations. Which one is more reliable
Im leaning towards jelly SMS as it is similar to apple's.

I started off using eirtext then the free version wouldn't work for me properly, then got jelly SMS and liked it so paid for it. Now I've downloaded eirtext again and am using it, where I am in new Zealand has terrible coverage and I find jelly SMS isn't as reliable as eirtext. Tbh I liked eirtext more from the start but because I had problems I changed but am back. There both decent apps though....

The only notable differences between the 3rd and 4th gen is that the newer has the cameras (front and back), a better screen and an A4 processor.
If none of that means anything to you, get the refurbished 3rd gen.

everything else, software wise is the same.
    Wallpapers, multitasking etc etc.

    Hell no.
    It isnt even 1mp.

    Actually no i'll change that,
Its kinda worth what it does less what it is.
Facetime is alright, considering now you can instal facetime on a PC.
And the ability to take nokia €30 cameraphone quality, rather than not. i guess.

    It isnt even 1mp.
    It's a 5-megapixel camera.

Anyone buy tom tom for iphone? Is it worth it? Are the maps updated or do you have to buy updated maps again in a year or 2? I was on nokia up to now and ovi maps was brilliant. Wondering how to get something as good on the iphone 4

The only thing leaning me is facetime, maybe the better screen.
    It's $90 not euro btw.

and, regarding the camera only being 1MP, that doesn't bother me. Pixels isn't a measure of a camera quality. The screen isn't 5mp so I don't see the point of a bigger camera on the iphone. I'd prob prefere 1MP so its takes up less room. I'm not ever going to replace my own camera with either.

Does anyone know an app to create smileys, I downloaded this one
    http://thetechjournal.com/electronics/iphone/activate-emoji-icons-on-your-iphone-using-free-iphone-app.xhtml
but I think my phone needs to be jailbreaked for it to work and I don;t want to do that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,600 ✭✭✭✭CMpunked

I got one like that, not that particular one, but one similar.

    Works fine.
    Just download the app.
Head into keyboards and add emoji-japanese.

I didnt reboot my phone to get it installed, but i did delete the app straight away and the little globe button popped up on my keyboard after a few minutes.

bear in mind, they only work if your sending them to other iphones.
They wont be displayed on any apps, regardless if someone views the page through an iphone.

I could delete icon on 3.1.3.
On 4.2.1. I have to keep the icon.

Apologies if it's been said already. I'm deciding which phone to get between an Iphone 4, Samsung Galaxy, and HTC Desire. I'm just wondering about the I phone, is there an App that can provide you with Irish Radio? Where-as a lot of phones have built in FM Radio, just wondering if there's an App. that I'd be able to get Radio coverage for the I phone any-one know ..... :)

Pretty much every station in the country has an iPhone radio app. :)

Plus, other apps such as Wunderadio provide access to thousands of stations all around the world.

What channels are actually worth listening to through wunderradio? I have it but rarely use it...

Since this is an apps thread it would be very cool if a mod or someone could put a list of all the mentioned apps and place them in the first post for everyone to find easily.

Or because I know it would be painful to go through 60+ pages, a new thread for this could be opened and it kept up to date
