I have a question re: lights in corridors in an Apt block. Basically the Apt block is about 10 yrs old and have long corridors with maybe 15 Apts the lenght of each corridor. The problem is their is only one light switch as you enter each corridor hence the lights are always left on night and day causing huge electricity bills. Is it possible to get lights with built in motion sensors or has anyone any ideas. Would appreciate any advice
    Thanks

Yes, you could put them on a pir. You can get options for retro fit that fit in a switch, but it may not be for you in this case if the corridors are that long.

you can leave them all on 24/7 and break the corridors into sections with 2 or three PIRs per section, if by any chance there were windows you could use PIR + Photo so they would not come on come on when it is bright.

But yes there are fitting with movement detectors installed for just that fitting.

Really Good product for houses but i wouldnt think it would meet the safety standards for an apartment block.. unless you could install one outside every apartment.

that is the problem with time delay switches in areas like these if somebody has a fall caused by sudden blackout

the electrician is 'in effect' the lighting designer ,if he picks the switch himself and installs it.
