Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi all,
just wondering where the best deal to get a falsh card reader for a PC is in dublin city center? ive been quoted about 40euro in the blanch center but looking at not spending that much... im sick of waiting ages for the PC to recognize my camera and copy images from it.

If I were you I'd get one here: http://shop4memory.com/products/flash-card-reader.asp

Prices start at €8. Free delivery, and if you order tonight you'll probably have it Friday.

Just pop down to Tesco and pick one up for little more than a tenner. Here's the one I use. 16 in 1 apparently. :)

    FORTY EUROS?

Card reader should be about €5 to €10, the posts above are correct- that tesco one should do the job :)

If you're sick of your uploads taking ages, why don't you spend a few quid on a better reader?

For 7 - 10 quid, you're not going to be getting something that fast. I got a Lexar card reader last year at some stage, I think it cost about 25-35 quid, but I can transfer files at incredibly fast rates. Makes life much easier for the sake of a few more pennies.

The one I got in Tesco last year supports USB2 & seems quite fast. It was €10.

All I wanted at the time was a USB Cable but there was not much choice at 9pm on a Sat night in Waterford.

I'd agree with Al, I got this fast fella from Calumet a while back and it's damn fast! Watch out on postage though as they tried to sting me with £10/15..

meh......, I was stuck for one and picked one up in the €2 shop thinking i'd be throwing it in the bin but to my surprise its absolutely fine. Only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't have a flashing light to tell me its in use. And gizmos need flashing lights to be credible ( like.... right????? ;) ) - oh and the price strangely enough was €2 :p

I'll race mine on a 16gb card vs your €2/10 ones on an 8gb card, and we'll see who wins :p

great, i was just wondering if the 2 euro shops still sell them. i'll be off to get one there tomorrow! :D
otherwise would have bought from ebay - that's about the same price but would have had to wait!

edit: oh but... do they read the sony/sandisk memory sticks, too? or only SD?

edit 2: also, some may find this helpful: http://www.click.ie/manhattan-multi-card-reader-writer-1.html (20-in-1, 12.99eur)

OP, who in heck quoted you €40 for a card reader. That's just insane.

i spent about €40 on a firewire 800 card reader which copies my 16GB cards in no time at all. my old cheap usb2 card reader took an age to copy the full 16GB

update: went to the 2-euro shop today, they had 3 different types of usb card readers for sale... and one of them does indeed take memory sticks (m2) too.

The Calumet ones are the fastest I have ever used, watch out for the tesco one as not a lot of the card goes in the slot and feels like its going to break

My flat screens have built in USB 2.0 card readers. Very handy being able to just pop the cards in the side of the screen.

I always used to break the reading pins in the cheap readers so invested in this Lexmark one, much more sturdy and solid.
