Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi! All

A friend of mine was in a car crash, she was a passenger, the driver turned out to be the owner of the car but had his licence revoked a few weeks ago and the car insurance was in the driver's son's name.

She is hurt and out of work at the moment, can she claim from the insurance company for the time she is out of work, loss of earnings.

    thanks

Driving without a licence is effectively driving without insurance. It is likely that the claim will be dealt with by the Motor Insurance Bureau. Notify the insurer of the vehicle and it will either be dealt by them as 'Insurer Concened' or passed fully to the MIB.

Your friend will not lose out (unless it is established that he/she willingly got in to the car knowing the full circumstances re driver/insurance)

The owner was driving the car, yet the insurance for the car belongs to the owner's son? Most if not all insurance companies will only insure the vehicle if the owner's name is the primary name on the policy. So Im not sure how the son insured the vehicle. Either way it looks like you will have to go thru MIBI.

Yeah its kinda funny, but since he lied about losing the licence who knows what else he is lying about.

It turns out he lost it for drink driving.

She's going to see a solicitor about it.
