    Hello Folks,

I thought i'd ask here because i didn't really know where to put it plus it would probably get a better response in here. (Mods feel free to move)

I am a cub scout leader and me and the fellow leaders in my group have decided that we need to do something to help the victims of the Haitian earthquake.

We want to involve ourselves, the kids and the kids parents if possible.

Some of the ideas i've come up with so far are

Car Wash - knocking around doors asking people if they would like their car cleaned for a charge.

Window wash - same as above

Treasure Hunt involving parents and kids - entry charge applies

    charity football match

I would be grateful if you have any more ideas for fundraising.

    Regards,

    Carroller16

PS: Don't ever go away again boards

    -Naked car wash.
    -Naked treasure hunt.
    -Naked charity football match.

Works a treat here on After Hours. You'll make a fortune.

We did a cake sale for the unit a few weeks ago. It went really well.

You should have your own earthquake, the money you get from that you can give to Haiti.

In Tallaght, fundraising is a different word for the past-time that is selling weed.

I'm a Cadet Leader with the Order of Malta and we're organising a Cake Sale/Jumble Sale in the community center where we have our meetings. We're asking all members of our unit, adult and child, to give in any old jumble they have lying around at home and to either buy or bake cakes, bread etc for it. Parents are being asked to help out too.

Car wash and cake sale are very good ideas

-If the weather was nice you could have some sports events eg parent & child three legged race and charge an entrance fee

-You could combine the cake sale with a cooking competition.

-You could ask people to donate their change jars

-Cake sale and fancy dress, best parent and child, sell tickets

    -Gardening

    naked calendar

Oh by the way I doubt a lot of people would want a load of brats putting streaks all over their windows, bag packing is bad enough!

Well you don't know the majority of people then. All they have to say is no. Thankfully the people in our community aren't so greedy.

Dress the children in rags and send them begging.

Time to support Irish beggars for a change.

Fund-raising/charity Poker Night can work well at times.

    Key things to remember:

-most of the money that comes in from the poker players, will have to be paid back out! Do not think you can keep lion's share of money for charity, some will have to be paid out in prizes.

-if you get tables sponsored by local businesses this can raise hundreds of euro before a card is even dealt. Simply make small signs and place them on the poker tables "This Table Was Kindly Sponsored by 'x-business'"

-do get someone who knows what they're at to run it for you

-Advertise, advertise, ADVERTISE. It's no good running and event if no poker players know about it!

-twist arms of a lot of members of the organisation to play, even if they don't know a lot about poker; it's all about raising money at the end of it.

-Can be highly profitable if spliced together with raffles and auctions at breaks in the poker play

    Hope this helps!!!
