Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got the first two fixed. Now for the lens. My lovely Canon 17-55 2.8 took a hit - the barrel is bent and cracked, and the focus (manual and drive) don't work. What's the best place to get repairs ?

    Mega bummer.

Got hit by a tobaggan on kiliney hill while taking photos of my boys. Hit and run. More pissed about the lens though.

Jesus! Hope you're ok :( Broken ribs are no fun..

You could try ISS for the repairs. I'm not sure how costly it'd be though.

If it's a Canon lens - as you say - ISS is probably your only option. I've had a Sigma lens repaired by Sigma agents in Bandon but I really can't remember the name of the company - Hahne something or other.

Cost me something like that to get the autofocus on a Sigma 50-500mm too. Been working a dream since.

thanks for all the replies. I Suspect this will cost more than €120. The barrel is split open and distorted. Smells expensive.

Smells like buying a new one will be a better choice.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Sounds very painful.

I left a Canon lens in to be fixed and await its return and bill. I expect to pay between €80 and €120.

If anyone can come up with the name of that place in Bandon I would appreciate a pm.

you're looking at a new barrel, probably a new helicoil, and god knows what else. can you tell if the aperture mechanism works? is the glass still all there and aligned?

Hope this helps. I believe they are the Sigma agents in Ireland.

Looks like the glass is still aligned. I can still take photos and change the apperature via the body. Looks like its the focussing mechanism and the barrel.
