Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

New to this so hope I am posting this in the correct thread......

My fiance and I are looking for a photographer for our wedding later this year ...... as well as the usual stuff such as album, etc we really want all the photos on CD JPEG's to allow us to view them on out laptop's screen saver or even via digital picture frames.

Its probable that our wedding album will spend the rest of it life in some cupboard, but the laptop photos are in constant use, hence our preference for the digial copies!.

No point in spending 2K on a photographer and placing the album in the attic, while spending the rest of your life looking at the photos your friends will send you !

Has anyone experienced similar challenges ?

Has anyone come across a photographer who can provide such a service ?

    Thanks in anticipation!

Professional photographers would probably be very reluctant to release images on CD as a large part of their income from weddings is repeat prints for relatives and friends.

That income stream would very likely be significantly reduced if clients were able to distribute images to all and sundry - even though they wouldn't be print quality. It might not be *your* intention to distribute the images but you can see how others would.

Your best bet is to hire a non-professional and agree that he/she will hand over all images. The downside of course is the reduced overall quality that might result both in the standard of the photography and its presentation ( a non-professional may not have access to the album makers the pros use).

Don't dismiss the importance of the album: yes, it will be consigned to a drawer and be forgotten for many years but your children and your children's children will value it.

A huge number of wedding photographers such as myself give the photos on CD as that is what modern clients want. Most people don't want to pay for prints afterwards, a set inclusive price at the outset that includes the hi-res images is very common.

Don't limit yourself to only Cork photographers, most photographers travel all over Ireland to shoot weddings, I've shot weddings from Dublin to Monaghan, from Seattle to Plymouth

There are many many threads on this forum discussing the various options of Wedding Photography in all it's aspects. Try doing a search on some relevant words like "Wedding"

If you are looking for a Photographer then there is a Sticky Thread at the top of the page for Service. Please read the rules in the opening post of that thread.

A Digital Copy is just like handing over the negatives of the image. Hence the high cost of getting all images from the day on a CD.

As DotOrg says above, many photographers will offer this nowadays.

Most give a slideshow of files at low-resolutions (for viewing on Laptops etc) as standard, and then charge an extra price for the High Res files.

Some will offer a package where the client recieves a disc with the High Res files and dispenses with any albums etc.

Shop around, and talk to your prospective photographers before making any bookings. Most will be willing to adapt for you.
