    Anyone been?
    Got any recommendations (companies, I guess) on getting out into the Amazon?

    Was there back in 2005..crazy spot. Definitely worth going for the rainforest and amazon tours....Flew up there from Rio on Gol airlines...cheap as chips. TAM prob fly up there aswell...maybe even LAN.
    We stayed in the Manaus palace hotel or something like that...it was only ok, but i believe theres far worse in the town..all the hostels are kips apparently, or they were back then.
    We did a river and rainforest tour with some crowd...cant remember the name, Fascinatia Amazonia or something, it was 40 reais a day each for 7 of us for 3 days...we stayed in a shack the first night in the forrest,rough enough. 2nd night in some village we had hammocks and it was ok..try to make sure you get the guide to go cayman spotting at night, something else.
    Oh and by the way, if you ever make it over as far as Porto Velho (near bolivian border) theres a trek you can do where you wade through swamps looking for anacondas..i sh*t you not...
